West Rebukes Biden's call for Regime Change in Russia

Let's add Emanuel Macron, Olaf Scholz, and Biden's handlers, who immediately retracted Biden's call for regime change, to those demonstrating weakness in the face of Russian authoritarianism. Apparently we're all cowards and unworthy of citizenship in the US if we're not willing to escalate this barbaric Russian aggression into nuclear war in a last ditch effort to bolster Biden's lousy approval rating.

World Leaders Rebuke Joe Biden After Sloppy Ukraine Speech in Poland

President Joe Biden’s call for regime change in Russia could embolden Russian President Vladimir Putin to escalate war tensions with NATO.

On Monday, Western NATO allies France and Germany tamped down President Biden’s Saturday assertion that regime change is needed in Russia, a statement the White House immediately retracted. Nevertheless, world leaders felt the need to respond to Biden’s statement by suggesting his words “could make it harder to resolve the conflict,” the Associated Press reported.

French President Emanuel Macron feared Biden’s remarks could embolden Putin and escalate the Ukrainian war. Macron urged caution from the U.S.

“I wouldn’t use those terms, because I continue to speak to President Putin, because what do we want to do collectively?” Macron said. “We want to stop the war that Russia launched in Ukraine, without waging war and without escalation.”

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz also felt the need to comment on Biden’s remarks over fears that Biden’s loose talk could embolden Putin’s aggression toward Ukraine. “We both agree completely that regime change is not an object and aim of policy that we pursue together,” Scholz said in reference to a potential escalation.

Biden’s statement that Putin “cannot remain in power” was just one mistake he made during last week’s symbolic foreign mission to stabilize the region. Instead of projecting calm and steadiness, the AP noted Biden’s trip “created a troubling distraction, undermining his effectiveness as he returned home to face restive Americans who strongly disapprove of his performance on issues that matter most to them.”

On Thursday, during a news conference in Brussels, Biden promised he would respond “in kind” if Putin deployed chemical weapons against Ukrainians, meaning that Biden would potentially use chemical weapons against Russia. The White House walked back the statement the next day.

After that incident, Biden told the 82nd Airborne Division in Poland that they may be deployed to Ukraine, a statement that contradicted Biden’s promise not to send Americans to die for Ukrainian borders.

“Look at how they’re stepping up. And you’re going to see when you’re there [Ukraine],” Biden said. The White House immediately retracted Biden’s statement.

Recent NBC News polling revealed 71 percent of Americans have low confidence in Biden’s ability to deal with Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. In addition, last week’s polling by AP-NORC showed only 26 percent of Americans believe Biden can successfully manage the potential for escalation with Putin.

Maybe we’re just opting for more consistency in our messaging.

From 2017:
UNITED NATIONS — President Donald Trump, in his first address to the United Nations, derided Kim Jong Un, North Korea’s leader, as a “rocket man” on Tuesday as the president warned that he may be forced to "totally destroy" the rogue nation.

"If the righteous many do not confront the wicked few, then evil will triumph," Trump said, as he detailed the horrors of what he called the "depraved" North Korean regime.

"Rocket man is on a suicide mission," he said, using a nickname for Kim that refers to the North Korean leader's recent missile tests.

"The United States has great strength and patience, but if it is forced to defend itself or its allies, we will have no choice but to totally destroy North Korea."

The North Korean ambassador to the U.N. walked out before Trump's speech started.

Yeah, I think it was a mistake for Biden to call for regime change. I imagine that the statement was made to Putin's coterie in the Kremlin, but I think there are more subtle ways to make your point. As long as Vladimir Putin is in charge of the country, calling him an existential threat makes his decision to continue to fight just that much easier. The man lives in a paranoid bubble as it is.

I think the West has to make clear to Russia that NATO is not an existential threat to Russia, that NATO has zero designs on Russian territory. Continue to describe the war as Putin's war. Differentiate the West's response to Russia as opposed to Putin. You present a situation to the Russian power structure that the existential threat to them is for Putin to remain in power.

Meh. I think you guys may be off on this one. Biden says something about regime change, and someone then corrects him. You get to have your cake and eat it too, and leave Poo-poo-Putin stewing with that one for a while. Anyone who has half a brain wants regime change in Russia.

And then there's Ajax.

MeDotOrg, I honestly wish you were president rather than Biden. I know you're still a liberal but at least you're a classical and principled liberal and you're not senile and decrepit. I'd much rather have you representing this country against someone like Putin or Kim Jung Un, or Xi.

It is only Putin and his remaining loyalists who would say such a statement reflects anything about a threat to Russia and not just Putin himself. No one said anything about dissolving Russia. The statement was about removing a tyrant from power, one who is an existential threat to his own people, his neighbors, and the rest of humankind. Of course this guy has to go, and anyone with a lick of sense realizes it. Including the Russians themselves.

And if Biden had been holding back and been more diplomatic not to escalate things as ajax suggests he should have, then Brietbart's OpEd would have read, "Biden's Weakness as a Leader Exposed."

These guys have already made up their minds they're going to attack and criticize and it really doesn't matter what Biden does.

So let's come out and state it publicly and back Putin into a corner until he unleashes nuclear war? Sorry about the nuclear war, but hey Putin started it.
