Ok, that confirms it. That was mine yesterday.

I am embarrassed it took me to the last try today. The flag looked familiar and the outline...man. I'm bad at this. But it's informative. Bombing the one you had today led me to read up on it. Very interesting.
So we're just a day behind. I wonder if you skipped a day would we be resynced or if there is some other internal tracking method that keeps you on the same calendar.

I opted not to skip, in part to try and redeem my embarrassment from yesterday. Today's was better, but I am realizing I don't recognize flags I should recognize. Yesterday's flag was obvious when I realized which country it was. But before that I confused it for a different country with colonial history and that ended up throwing me off. What's funniest is I couldn't figure out how to interpret the boundary when I first saw it. So many reasons to be ashamed of that one.

Get your redemption. I had no trouble today but I can definitely see how the out of context borders can be misleading. I've also got an old friend that lives there so I might have been cheating just a bit ;).

I do think a lot of these will boil down to "did I have some odd connection with the place that gives me familiarity".

Hi Xeno, I'm curious if you kept up with the game over the weekend? In part to see if there is any kind of reset on a weekly basis or if the starting country is always the same so once a person starts they are locked into a schedule?

I did complete yesterdays with no issues. I'm highly embarrassed by today's performance though... it was the flag that burned me (green open star on a red backdrop(was that yours today or a few back still?)). For some reason I abandoned my previous strategy of trying to picture the map. I'm also embarrassed that my Western sensibilities caused me to believe the capital was a very different city than the actual, a humbling learning experience.

That was mine yesterday. So it seems we are on a schedule based on when we start. I'd be curious is someone else were to start today what they'd get first?

I did more poorly than I should have in the one you had today. The flag was meaningless to me but the answer passed through my mind based on the one oddly shaped peninsula but I initially thought it was the wrong...something. I made it my guess when the size hint made it seem possible and I realized I was envisioning it being smaller than it actually was. Again, it's a humbling exercise all around. But perhaps more enjoyable for it, too.

Maybe someone will jump in, that or we'll just keep yelling random country names into the void.

The shape even threw me off, I didn't really know about the difference between the set country borders and the southern territory which is disputed but also mostly occupied by the country in question. There are even a few maps when I google'd it that don't highlight the distinction that well.

I think I'll try waiting tomorrow and see if we sync up on Wednesday then. Just for the sake of experiment.

Thanks for posting the link, Mister H. Play this every day. Somedays I have no clue, somedays I have an 'aha' moment and feel like I'm a geography guru until the next day's puzzle.

I'm interested to see if we do sync up.

Today's was pretty easy given the fairly high rate the country pops into current events. One bit that I didn't realize was tricking my brain until today was scale. The outline appears roughly the same size regardless of actual country dimensions and it didn't strike me how off-putting it was until todays, where you have a large country occupying the same screen real-estate as significantly smaller countries just a few guesses ago. It doesn't feel as noticeable when very small countries are presented as larger, guess I'll have to try to add that to the consideration pile when guessing.
