So it's about whether or not to put more guns in schools.
How does that encourage responsible ownership?
Re-read the opening post. Please stop trying to highjack the topic.
I'm not. Gun owners and those favoring gun control should be united in demanding responsibility as a contingency to ownership. And that would help secure schools.
Why do you imagine responsibility isn't part of the discussion but proliferation is?
Please explain what ‘securing the schools’ means to you. What does that require or entail?
Posed as you have here, your opening question really cannot be answered.
Thanks for addressing the topic. Fair request for clarification.
"Securing" meaning minimizing mass shootings.

So the goal is to minimize mass shootings but responsibly in regards to ownership isn't part of the discussion, in your opinion?
I think I see where at least part of the problem lies.

You seem to want to insist on changing the topic which is respect to securing the schools regardless of how many guns are out there. Let that sink in. If you want to discuss gun control, start another thread. But please don't highjack this very specific topic.

I insist that responsibility be part of any discussion about firearms, yes. One should ask why you disagree?
How does either of option in your poll encourage responsible ownership?

Well, then … Easiest answer is, ‘keeping mass shooters from using firearms’.
That already poses some challenges, and things just get much more complex from there.

For one thing, criminals don't care about "responsible gun ownership." Black markets don't care about "responsible gun ownership." At any rate, you seem insistent on avoiding the topic which is securing schools regardless of how many guns are out there, attempts at gun control or not. If you want a thread about gun control, start another thread, but please don't highjack this one, which is about securing schools regardless of how many guns are out there.
