My wife and I joke around that we (all of us) were shunted into an alternate reality back in 2016. I think someone broke the Sacred Timeline and we’re one of the branches where bananapants was, is, and will be the norm.
Yep! My wife and I have had the same conversation, and I wish that it didn't have such an emotional plausibility to it. Things have just been wrong. It is irrational to say, I know. But I have felt that way for some time now.
Have you heard the conspiracy theory that experiments at CERN actually did throw off the timeline, and something really, truly is wrong?

I don't know. I wouldn't trust an Alcoholics Anonymous pilot to present anything to a preschool class.

I have not heard that. That definitely sounds interesting. In the third season of Twin Peaks, the triggering event that brings the demon Bob into the world is the first atomic bomb test. Or something like that.

Here's the best I can do on short notice:

1. When you get on the plane take out the AA flight magazine and look for the routes found typically in the back of the mag. The route may also show on a display in front of your seat. Same one you use for entertainment. You could possibly fly over the ocean OR you could fly up the coast and cross over near Greenland (etc) and fly down into Athens. I've seen both types of routes.

2. The flight crew isn't stupid nor would they roll the dice every working day of their lives and bet on something they thought was unsafe. The planes literally fly themselves via computer. Virtually ALL of those pilots were trained on gliders, Kish. They know how to pilot the aircraft with or without an engine. Could something terrible happen? Sure. Is it likely. Nope.

3. I had an AA pilot present in my preschool class about flying. He brought in his own model planes. ;-) He showed us that turbulence is just like driving over bumps in the road only the bumps are made of air. You aren't going to get tossed out of the sky. I never worried about turbulence again and learned to love it.

4. While you are flying, chances are that somewhere in the world some trashy Kardashian is flying wherever the hell they want to fly whenever they want to fly. YOU being a non-trashy person (we think) deserve all the comforts, convenience, and opportunities that plastic porno Kardashians enjoy every day of their sickening fake lives. In other words--think of the flight as a well deserved treat.

Kish nothing you wrote is remotely silly. The pandemic has done a mental health number on probably most of us for the exact reasons you mentioned. We spent over two years waiting for the other shoe drop, watching it drop, then learning how to pick it up off the floor and put it on again and keep going. It's hard to extract ourselves from that cycle of emotional abuse and that's exactly what it was. Over two years of chronic slow motion trauma. We're all in recovery to one degree or another.

Try not to walk on the eggshells. Crush them under your feet.

We are your friends,
Jersey

p.s. Greece seems like a beautiful destination. Let us know how you get on!
Thanks, Jersey! You are very kind to share all of these thoughts and knowledge. I am consistently surprised by all that you know and have seen. By now I really should not be surprised, eh? Mostly the fact you took the time to share it all is appreciated. I do feel comforted by this knowledge.
I am but a font of random knowledge. And old. ;-) We all want you to have a good experience. You are our friend.

Perhaps a bit of Xanax, if available, would make the trip easier? And just know, after about an hour in the air you will resign yourself to it then settle down and on the way back you will be a veteran transatlantic flier!

Prayers for confidence and remember to crush the egg shells!

I hope you have a great time Reverend. The plane will be just fine, no question about it. I'm sure your tour guide will learn a few things they didn't know before your arrival.
That said, Greece. Very cool. Make sure you update us with the food you’re eating, the classical music you’ll listen to, the theater you’ll see, and of course the Concentration Camp you’ll visit.
This is a good idea. If there are any disagreements going on with board members here, you can substitute travel updates for arguments.

Love Greece! I’ve been a number of times and, if you have it in your schedule, definitely hop a plane to some of the islands for a day or two. Interestingly, last time I was in athens it was during some pretty major demonstrations so we had most of city to ourselves. It was lovely.

Travel safe kish! by the way, you will probably fly well north over Iceland and Greenland so land will likely visible out the side of the aircraft for most of the trip.

Thanks, Dean! I will scout out places for our annual Cassius University Mopologetics conference next year.

I would answer but I am flying with a prestigious team of international scholars and listening to Mahler on my personal electronic device.

I may make it to Delphi but no islands this time I am afraid. Thanks for the good wishes! Yes, demonstrations and strikes are not uncommon in that part of the world. I hope they don't cause too much chaos while I am there.

This would have to be the trip of a lifetime for someone with your background! I envy you and those lucky enough to be traveling with someone with your background.

My only advice to add to the fantastic and carefully researched agenda that I’m sure you already have planned:

1. The country’s not that tough to drive in. You may want to rent a car instead of tour by bus.
2. The monasteries of Meteora. They’ll be one more thing to love on this trip.

Good luck, Kish, and stay safe.

Hi Kishkumen,

The link makes the excavation sounds amazing. The YouTube video embedded in the link was gorgeous.

I had read something recently about the timeline and effects of the spread of Indo-European religion that came to mind and I'm genuinely hopeful that there may be some nuggets you can share publicly about what the excavation has and may further reveal about the religious practices and evolution in the period.

Perhaps this story of LDS Apostles traveling to Greece in 1892 could cheer you on your way:

Apostles and Oracle

In 1892, two Apostles from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints disembarked from the pier at the Port of Athens. As all who read this history might have guessed, they were on a mission.

This was no ordinary mission because they were not seeking to convert anyone to the Mormon Church. Instead, they had been sent by Church President Wilford Woodruff to the Temple of Apollo at Delphi to ask a question of the Sibyl known as the Oracle of Delphi.

Once the Apostles had rested and nourished their souls with baklava and their courage with Ouzo, they were able to proceed with their journey. They secured necessary guides and porters and thus began the trip to Delphi along the north side of the Gulf of Corinth overlooked by Mount Parnassus. They had adventures along the way that included warding off the Witch-King of Angmar one night while camping at an ancient ruin. Seems it was looking for something called the Talisman of Jupiter.

When the two Apostles arrived at the Temple, they kneeled toward Salt Lake and gave a prayer of thanks. After making a sizeable offering and being cleansed and anointed by the Temple Virgins, they then requested and received an audience with the Sibyl. They asked the question of what they could do to prevent future problems for the Church. The Sibyl went into her oracular trance and uttered the following words to help with the future of the Church.
The Oracle of Delphi wrote:"When the way you do things in Utah is exposed to the light, it casts an ill shadow. So for Brigham's sake, turn off the lights!"
The Apostles knew they needed to ponder this message to absorb its full meaning. Due to their callings, they could not help themselves from proposing polygamous marriage to some of the Temple Virgins before they departed. The Virgins demurred but did suggest the Apostles visit a particular cave on their way back to Athens. The Apostles did precisely that on their way back but found the cave full of nanny goats. They sighed and regretted not meeting the shepherdesses.

The two Apostles made a stopover in Newcastle, England on the way home to seek additional wives and upon returning to Salt Lake City they successfully delivered the message to President Woodruff.
