Well, one thing for sure is that more welfare dollars are needed. What part of your atheist morality could you share with us that might help motivate the posters on this board to either go back to work or take on some extra shifts to help provide these welfare dollars to the federal government for those who need it?

You give the impression that every member of your family has worked at 40+ hour-a-week jobs for other people right up to the moment of their death, and that you have your daughter chopping wood in the backyard right now, lest she not be allowed to be in the house this winter, stealing your heat. : D

I’m still not sure why you’ve turned the thread into another one of your screeds against taxation, but can you tell me why charity dictated by religion under the threat of eternal damnation is more righteous or more compelling to you than assistance via taxation dictated by government under the threat of a fine?

Hrm. That makes it seem like there’s a dollars-in matching dollars-out sort of exchange. I haven’t done much looking around regarding $’s paid out versus $’s taken in, but I’m fairly certain there’s a significant difference. I’ll have to devote some minutes to the question.

I ran numbers a few years back out of curiosity, and it looks like most folks will get far more back than they ever paid in. That’s an absolute certainty for our parents.

But, maybe my calculator was on crack. Let me know what you come up with.

This thread needs to be split about 3 different ways. I can't even with this.

Yeah, canpakes, can we split off the taxation discussion from my god thread please?

I can do that. It might get a bit muddy where the two subjects start to diverge, but let me see what I can do. I’m hip-deep in a project drawing so I’ll need a bit of time but should have this complete by tonight.

Yeah because there's some kind of political thing going on that I see fly by and I can't tell if anyone has commented to me--like you who we were having a pretty good conversation--so I can reply to them. Or you. As the case may be. I'll wait until later when cp has a chance to do the split. I bet I missed some posts to me. I did see Gunnar's post for me. His turn at bat is coming right up!

Split to allow the original thread to remain more on focus with the topic, while letting adjacent conversations continue here.

Thank you for the split, canpakes! It is so much appreciated and I am sure that it's not what you'd rather be doing with your spare time!
