Is there something on a federal level that prevents states like Texas from funding and installing border barriers on it's own land, and hiring it's own law enforcement to patrol borders? As I understand it, the Department of Homeland Security's change a year ago was regarding deportation. Is there a federal law that keeps states from investing in, and implementing their own tools to try to prevent illegal crossings in the first place?
If a state can try to mitigate illegal crossings on its own, the DHS change on deportations becomes kind of moot, no?
No doubt the red states on the border just want the federal government to bail them out. And, you know, this is the kind of thing a federal government exists for.

I’m admittedly not entirely sure what the equatorial giblet metrics are that DT was employing in his desire for an answer.
Hopefully dodecahedrons were at play. Would be nice to finally have a payoff.

Of course, anything that the left doesn't like must be illegal. Do you realize that Florida congressional Democrats voted for and approved the state tax money to pay for transportation, hotels, and meals for the trip to Martha's Vineyard?

Texas Dem-led city approves $2 million contract to bus migrants to other towns, seeks federal payback
El Paso borders Mexico and has recently seen an increase in migrants
A Texas Democrat-led city approved a $2 million dollar contract with a charter bus company in order to transport migrants to other cities.
The contract between El Paso, Texas and GoGo Charters LLC was approved by the El Paso city council on Monday by a 3-1 vote, and the private company will "transport migrants to other cities as needed," according to WETM.
The city, which borders Mexico, has already bussed more than 550 migrants out of the town by the charter bus company, according to the report. City-run busses have taken migrants to bus stations, the airport, and shelters in the area.
However, according to the report, the number of people released from federal immigration custody has risen substantially over the past week as hundreds of Venezuelan migrants arrived who both cannot be expelled from the country under Title 42 and don't have U.S. sponsors.
The $2 million will be spent over 16 months, and the city is hoping for a reimbursement from the Biden administration.
City Manager Tony Gonzalez called the situation an "emergency" and said that there simply isn't money for these kinds of circumstances.
"This is an emergency. We don’t have money set aside for these particular circumstances. You are giving us the ability to spend up to $2 million with this company; that’s all we’re authorized with this particular company," Gonzalez said.
"We knew we needed to pay for things that are not within our charter […] so we wanted you to approve that ordinance to give us the ability to do things like the processing/welcome center, to pay for food and water, when necessary, to pay for hotels, to pay for transport," Gonzalez said. "There’s a cost to do that, several thousands of dollars. And when you get into three, four, five charters per day, it adds up."
The report also states that El Paso has sent out 25 charter busses since Aug. 23, and added that five more will be sent out on Monday.
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre blasted Republican Gov. Greg Abbott as well as Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Thursday for sending migrants to other states across the country.
Abbott sent two busses containing mover 100 migrants to a location near Vice President Kamala Harris' residence at the Naval Observatory in Washington, D.C., on Thursday morning. On Wednesday, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis sent two full planes of illegal immigrants to Martha's Vineyard.
The Biden White House has yet to criticize El Paso.

Incidentally, the budget was specifically for illegal migrants located in Florida. De Santis spent over $600,000 to get them from Texas, and some of them were legal asylum seekers.
Most would likely see this type of budgetary abuse, and wasteful spending problematic. Fortunately for De Santis, his supporters are largely RINO socialists who love spending other people's money.
(Guess what is happening to those Democrats who voted for the budget? They're scrambling to save face because they don't have a massive cult ready to fall on their swords for them.)

De Santis: Let’s misuse the budget and lie to people to coerce them to be transported to another state where they have nothing and no one, abandon them in a city with no notice, and no resources available, for a targeting political stunt.
Lesser: Let’s find out where people are looking to go, arrange their transportation, and make sure they have amenities.

Steuss man. Calm down a bit. Really truly. You are getting all blue anon in the face and missing the entire point here. Not only are you missing the point, you are also feeding the beast.
This faux outrage directed at DeSantis is comical and funny and interesting to a point. But, it all requires you to first acknowledge his point which he made emphatically. He was playing metaphorical chess for chrissakes. And part of his chess game was to make a move, and for you to have an absolute meltdown, miss the point entirely, and play into his move. It is working.
Do you think that sending migrants to Martha's Vineyard was done in the interest of their (migrants) well-being? Or, do you think it was done to get you, fake-Doctor Steuss, to have a conniption fit of the highest order?
