Risk factors for GDM include maternal age over 23 and obesity (Most people gain weight as they age). Hispanics and other minorities have higher odds of GDM. The increasing age of primiparity is contributing to the rising prevalence of diabetes. I wonder what the numbers will look like in 20 years.

In the grand scheme of problems facing mankind, it's not all that big of a deal. Why should it be taken seriously when there are millions of children starving to death in Africa?
