No one should be put at risk of life or financial ruin from an unexpected illness because they lack insurance or lose it through no fault of their own. This is basic human decency.
And this is another reason the country will always be in debt. Universal healthcare alone would consume every cent even if you taxed "the rich" at 100%. That's not even counting the fact that "the rich" will quit working without any financial incentive left to do so and the poor will continue to have more children as long as someone else is responsible for paying for it.
And when the Confederates saw Jackson standing fearless like a stonewall, the army of Northern Virginia took courage and drove the federal army off their land.

Why is that not happening in the industrialized countries we have often pointed out to you that have universal healthcare? Why do you think all of them spend less per capita (often less than half as much) than the USA does on healthcare while providing better and more comprehensive overall healthcare to a greater percentage of their citizens than our nation does? Do you think there is something inherently wrong or immoral about basic human decency and attempting to minimize the "risk of life or financial ruin from an unexpected illness because they lack insurance or lose it through no fault of their own?" What turned you into such a misanthrope?
No precept or claim is more suspect or more likely to be false than one that can only be supported by invoking the claim of Divine authority for it--no matter who or what claims such authority.

Taking the example of France, who has the "best overall health care" based on a WHO assessment of world healthcare systems.

They spend about half as much of the GDP on healthcare compared the the US, beat out the US in every healthcare metric, and have the richest man in the world, who is in his 70's, still griding away. They also have less debt than the US.

It's remarkable how ajax continues to persist in making a fool of himself by repeating misinformed conclusions no matter how many times they have already been proven wrong!

Ajax can only spout talking points. He always runs away and can never actually answer questions. He's just like mopologists, but with politics.

The vast majority of people who vote Republican do so because they are ignorant. Some are malicious, but most have been lied to their entire lives by fat cats who have concocted a fake populist narrative, one in which the "elites" of a society are not the billionaire oligarchs like Elon Musk or Bernie Marcus but rather professors who make almost nothing in comparison and who have zero political influence or power.

This is a totally absurd and deceitful idea, but it is persuasive to some people because they feel angry at the world for not accepting their antiquated religious beliefs. They thus become like a raging bull chasing a silly red flag instead of the matador who is trying to harm it.
Yes, all the above ought to be so obviously true to any even moderately well-informed and fully cognizant individual that I can't help feeling a sense of both bewilderment and despair at how many otherwise seemingly literate and articulate people fail to see it. I particularly admire your "raging bull chasing a silly red flag" analogy. That is a gem! I will never forget that one!

ETA: I hope you won't consider this too much of a derailment, but that analogy reminds me of the joke about an American Tourist in a small town somewhere in Latin America who smelled something really delicious being served to the customer at the table next to his in the restaurant where he was eating. He asked the waiter what it was, and if he could order the same. The waiter replied, "Señor, that is the testicles of the bull that was killed in today's bullfight. It is only served once a day, on a first ordered first served basis, and you have to put in your order at least a day in advance to get it."

The American immediately put in his order for the next day, luckily before anyone else did, and delightedly got to enjoy it the next evening. It was every bit as delicious as he anticipated it would be, but it seemed a considerably smaller serving than he saw the evening before. When he asked the waiter why his serving seemed so much smaller than he saw yesterday, the waiter replied, "You need to understand, Señor, that sometimes the bull wins!"

I wish that in today's world the innocent, oppressed bull would wake up and defeat the "matador" who is the real enemy more often!

Unfortunately, people like Ajax only consume far-right media so they really have no understanding of how the world works. The only way they could get the wool off their eyes would be to actually look at what people on the center-left actually say.

Trump supporters are remarkably similar to Mormons in this regard. They do not actually understand the viewpoints of the people they hate. All they have is a false caricature of them. They spend their lives beating straw men while everyone else laughs or shakes their heads at the foolishness.

Virtually every country has debt, and much of their debt is owned by us. It goes both ways. What's the real tragedy here when countries like China are also trillions of dollars in debt? You're an idiot who still doesn't know how the global economy works.

Republicans prove their idiocy over and over again with their bumper sticker slogans and sophomoric understanding of how the economy works. From comparing the national debt to a household use of credit cards, to their idiotic assertion that a flat tax won't hurt the poor. You only pretend to care about the debt when you're trying to use it as a political weapon when a Democrat is in office. Otherwise you don't even flinch when it comes to raising the debt limit three times during Trump's tenure.

I swear, a law needs to be passed at some point making certain requirements for someone to be an elected official. Why is it President's one job is to defend and protect the Constitution and yet there is absolutely zero requirement that they even read it. Trump clearly never has and he violated it so many times it got to the point where he said it needed to be done away with. Now we have legislators in Congress talking about economic matters when there is no requirement for them to have any understanding of how the economy even works. It makes us the laughing stock to the rest of the world.

Trump was laughed at every single day by people in other countries. And yet he and his supporters have deluded themselves so much that they actually thought other countries respected an obese moron who paints himself in orange makeup daily and can't even utter one grammatical sentence without using a teleprompter.

Or at least that's what they say in public. Even they know that Trump isn't smart.
