Chris Christie Entering the Primaries

I read an opinion article today talking about Christie supposedly declaring his intentions to run for President and how that could be a great thing, because he's the one guy that can get combative and dirty and not really worry about it. He's got no chance at the nomination, but the idea was that he might be able to do the Trump in 2024 what he did to the Rubio campaign in 2016.

I have no idea if Christie can take on Trump and win in the eyes of the GOP base, but I'll love to find out. He'll be using a strategy nobody else could pull off: actually fight Trump, and tell the GOP base that the election wasn't rigged, not even close. Trump is just a loser. I've seen the way Christie can dispute what others say, and he can do it in that very street-level, you can't “F” with me, New York/New Jersey way that Trump does it, so it might be fun to watch. Christie does have a measure of charisma.

I need to run out and buy some popcorn.

Anyone think he's got a chance? (Not at the nomination - just at messing up Trump).

My Opinion: At this point, anyone thinking of voting for Trump won’t be swayed by anything. Not by the Lincoln Project. Not by Christie. Not by being caught on tape doing a myriad of egregious things.

If anything, Christie entering the ring will help Trump. The more people who enter the fray, the more likely Trump will get the nomination. He's not going to win any votes, but he's also not going to lose any. The best chance he has is for the votes of normal people with functioning ethics and morals to split their votes amongst a wide array of people.

Trump and the Republican Party both share a hive mind.

That is a well-supported opinion.

I think, though, that what you said only really applies to his fans. I suspect a large number of more moderate voters who held their nose to vote for Trump are very persuadable in the primaries. But, yeah... who knows?

That is definitely a worry, given that's basically what happened in 2016.

I think he and his fans do. The more GOP voters I talk/listen to, the more I hear saying the GOP needs someone else.

I don't feel like getting much into politics but I will say this much. Of all the folks who have tossed their hat in the ring, Christie is the only one who can cut Trump right down to his knees. He is intelligent, confident, articulate, has the law degree, he has the ability to spout facts on the spot, he can be self deprecating as well as arrogant, authoritative, personable or aggressive, and he wields sarcasm like a true artist.

I don't think I'd vote for him for President but yeah, Newark boy's got exactly what it takes to rip Trump to shreds (face to face in public) and Trump no doubt knows it. Christie has a brain and all Trump has are a series of worn out affectations. I would love to see them in debate and watch Trump be totally humiliated before my very eyes! I'd pay to see that if I needed to!

I think Christie would make a good attorney general should the opportunity present itself.

Agreed.

The real question is how pugnacious Christie is really willing to get. I hope he holds back nothing. I realize I'm hoping for a measure of theater here, but I think it would be worth it, and could have a positive ripple effect on the GOP base.

You'll need someone to protect Hunter and the Biden family influence pedaling business. Merrick Garland and Christopher Wray are doing a great job of that now. I doubt Chris Christie could pull that off. And it doesn't look like the Big Guy will be doing debates this time around. Perhaps that will relieve his handlers of having to field pesky questions about Burisma, Romania, and CCP money all through a demented 80 year old swamp crook that can't even read a teleprompter.

Trump very well could be serving as President from jail. A liberal judge and jury can incarcerate him but that doesn't disqualify Trump from running nor citizens from voting for him. Trump nor any conservative will win because our elections are rigged but it could happen in theory in spite of deep state election interference.

Trump trounced Chris Christie in 2016. Chris Christie has about the same chance Mitt Romney would have. Even DeSantis who deservedly holds the respect of MAGA Republicans for fighting back during the scamdemic is getting trounced by Trump. Only in an alternate reality where Some Schmo, the Democratic Socialist who claims to somehow hail from conservative roots, would anyone be ignorant enough to think Chris Christie is even relevant enough to challenge Trump on a debate stage. Where was Christie's whit in 2016? Politically correct RINOs who only appear on CNN aren't popular or even relevant in conservative America. It's an illusion that seems to only afflict those whose brains run on a strict diet of left wing propaganda.

Sean Hannity got booed at a town hall for suggesting that Trump be less extreme and more discerning in his constant insults. Republican voters want a lying, unhinged, and rabid Trump who will chase parked FBI cars. They look forward to a 1000-year Reich beginning in January 2025.
