What good is a promise of border enforcement from a party who will never do that?
So, the reason Republicans refuse to secure our borders is because they don't want Democrats to secure the border, because they won't do it, even though they'll have to do it, because that's kind of the whole point of legislation... or something.

Why would Democrats be willing to enforce a new law on the books? Couldn't they just refuse to enforce it as they have the laws currently on the books?

No, he doesn't have the authority which is why Trump never did it when he was President. Biden is being the good President here by following the guidance of legal counsel on this who tell him it is best to have explicit powers granted to him by Congress to stay in line with the Constitution, and I already showed you where one Republican said Trump tried to have those same powers given to him. Again, you're repeating the debunked talking points.

This Senate bill doesn't contain any form of amnesty.
The bill does not include legislation to help expedite the processing of the Dreamers who arrived in the U.S. illegally at a young age in situations that were out of their control, Sinema said.
“This a border security package that seeks to create security and order on the border and to ensure that cartels are no longer able to exploit our Asylum system,” she said.
