As for your second question, am I right in remembering that someone set up a gallows outside the Capitol? Why, I think I am!
Of course, nobody who came to the Capitol that day would ever have thought of being so rude as to actually string up the VP. I mean, you only had to look at the respectful way they were behaving to the police to see that.
