The Real Reason why Trump won

In a nutshell, low voter turnout.

It has always been the case that when more people vote, Republicans tend to lose. But so far it looks like there are nearly 15 million fewer people who voted when compared to just 4 years ago.

While the media was hyping up record numbers of early voting, the perception was that this would be indicative of overall votes. While early/mail-in voters tended to be Democrats in 2020 because Republicans were being stupid about COVID and didn't care about creating a super spreader event on Nov 5th. But that wasn't true in 2024.

What caught my attention is that voter turnout was lower for Trump and Kamala both. Roughly 1.4 million fewer Trump supporters in 2024, whereas the Democrat ticket had a whopping 13.1 million fewer votes than in 2020.

At the end of the day I think it can be said that nobody is giving enough attention or appreciation to the impact of Right Wing propaganda. More and more people are turning to being indoctrinated by podcasts, and I think I read somewhere that more than half of the top 20 podcasts are right wing propaganda mills like Dan Bongino, Tucker Carlson, and Candace Owens.

Trump won not because he is more popular, but rather because fewer rational thinking Americans felt it was worth getting involved. That's really a said statement to make about our country.

We literally elected the first convicted felon to the Presidency, a rapist who tried to overthrow our Democracy and only ran for President as a means to keep himself from spending the rest of his life in prison. As it is, expect Trump to go after the people like Jack Smith who were only doing their jobs by prosecuting him. Expect more women to die because of his corrupt court system that denies women their right to healthcare, which we can now expect to get even more corrupt as Trump will no doubt go on another spree of appointing more radical religious nuts, whoever the Federalist Society tells him to appoint.

At this point I actually hope the Republicans take full control of Congress and they do all of the project 25 crap they lied about never supporting. Only when it affects enough AMericans lives will people wake the fuq up and take control again.

And I can't wait until Trump gets in office and I hear him brag about having the greatest economy in the history of the world again like he said in 2017. Same old thing again. A Republican destroys our economy with their supply side economics that only corruptly serves their wealthiest donors, and then a democrat comes along and cleans up the mess while we elect another Republican moron who takes credit for it all the improvements. Biden did so many things Trump's failed promises couldn't achieve and now with inflation at 2% Trump and Right Wing propaganda is going to be pushing this, "We told ya so, look at how things got better with Trump."

I still have morons on Facebook telling me they spend $9 for a dozen eggs when I'm getting them for under a buck fifty. They create this alternate universe and convince themselves about a different reality being true, all according to who is President. None of these people gave a flying damn about super low inflation we saw under Obama.

I am really puzzled about the low turnout.

We are still counting votes here. Also, I’m wondering about how the totals of provisional votes compare to past elections.

I've been thinking about this a lot, Vēritās. And it occurs to me that as much scorn and derision I feel needs to be assigned to Trump voters also needs to be directed at all the Biden voters who couldn't be bothered to get off their asses to vote for Kamala. Those people are just as damned stupid as any Trump voter.

The answer is obvious.

Despite being devious enough to cheat and steal the election in 2020 when a Republican was in power.

They weren't able to do so in 2024 with a Democrat controlling the resource of the fed because ***reasons***.

Herp derp

All of the above is so obviously true to any honest, well-informed and objective observer that I am greatly dismayed by how many of my fellow Americans somehow fail to see it. :(

I find it hard to avoid that conclusion myself. I hate feeling that way about my fellow Americans, many of whom I know and love.

I too! I can't see any good reason why almost 20 million people who voted in the last general election declined to vote in this one. Perhaps many were discouraged by long waits in line because of the dearth of legal voting locations imposed by conservative legislators in most areas that had a majority of registered Democrats and minorities, and legislation severely restricting the use of mail-in or absentee voting.

My understanding is that they are still counting votes from a few Western states and the projected final totals will look something approaching this: Trump 76-77 million and Harris 74-75 million - Totaling approximately 150-152 million votes (2020's total was 155 million) - So I'm not sure how much "low voter turnout" is in play here.

Anyway, that's my understanding.

And if I mention the convicted felon part to a Trump supporter, I get answers like 'but what exactly were the felonies?' and 'that's because the courts conspired against him and are fraudulent,' or some such nonsense. You're never getting through to people who listen to right wing idiocy.
