In another thread, Ajax said he doesn't care what sex crimes Gaetz is guilty of, as long as he goes after the so-called "Deep State."

That's where we are now with MAGA.

I think in general for MAGA these crimes are a bonus rather than a negative. I think the accusations against him were a boon for his nomination by Trump, as Trump is going for maximum controversy and boundary crossing. If it outrages Democrats, then how can it be bad?

If the sex crimes are "red-blooded male dominance" type sex crimes then there is no way the perpetrator can be woke. Now, had the incidents been with male prostitutes, let's see if MAGA is so okay with it. Drugs aren't a big deal either. When men become born again Christians, drug use is heavily bragged about -- it's sort of a "I was so bad" badge of honor. My right-wing friend has endless stories about his drug use before becoming a Christian among many other illicit things. It's all "alpha male" type sinning, so it's okay, or even good.

I agree. There is a definite undercurrent of maleness in MAGA. Rogan supports taking testosterone supplements and is the face of MMA. I think those themes were important to Trump's election. However, I don't think MAGA will support someone who had relations with young girls. They have daughters too.

I definitely think there is a portion of men who profess their Christianity daily who what they heard from the Access Hollywood tape wasn’t just the sexual assault but how when you are a star you can get away with treating women like your play things. They want to be Trump.

Trump is threatening to take over the Panama Canal. Ajax might note he needs to do this to keep it out of the hands of the Deep State and woke mentalists.

While I appreciate your good will, I point to exhibit A, which is Ajax, who just said he didn't care. Okay, not caring is different than "supporting", and I think that support is ambivalent but can definitely materialize, especially if the girl reports it. You are right that "they have daughters too" and they will believe their daughter without questions and go after the perp with vengeance, and rightly so. But if it's someone else's daughter they don't care.

This is the same impulse right-wing farmers employ when they vote Trump for mass deportations and think they'll get a free pass because they're "in the family". Or the immigrant who got their greencard and turns maga -- can't just let anyone in, now that they are good. It seems this was a much bigger issue than I realized, a lot of immigrants think they are in the "good" category and it's others Trump was talking about.

Also recall, that an aspect of the culture war is extreme traditionalism - trad wives, and an aspect of this is that girls married younger back then and were subservient.
