Federal lunches and breakfast are going to be canceled, teachers are worried about feeding kids. I told this to a Trump supporter, their response was, 'let's see if that really happens.' What an utter asshole.
That's the problem when you worship an obvious liar. You don't really know which promises he'll keep and which ones he won't. All these morons who voted with the idea he doesn't really mean that he'll (insert awful decision that affects them directly here) deserve to lose that bet.
Of course, you also have the assholes like you quoted above who are hoping Trump screws over a bunch of people that aren't them, or are at least indifferent to that pain.

and the Mahmoud Khalil deportation, attempted prosecution of Hillary's attorneys, and proposed prosecution of environmental groups for using funds the previous administration and congress allocated to them....... Welcome to the police state.
Okay I'm done for now. Maybe. I guess the only thing that surprises me in all of this is how willing I think his supporters seem to be to relinquish their responsibilities as citizens of this country to a man who isn't "all there". Is it trust? Is it pride? I don't know. I can't see any rational person looking at all of this and thinking it's okay when clearly it is not.
The whole post... great rant. Thumbs up.

You know what, Schmo. I was going to follow up here today to say that one of the reasons I think I'm not worried is that Trump consistently fails at everything he does and when I opened CNN to take a look a today's headlines...I saw this.
See? He can't do crap right. Doesn't accomplish anything except putting people into a tailspin about their jobs, the economy, health, international relationships, airline travel...then he either backs down or gets slammed down by the courts and when that's happening he ping pongs around to some other topics in an attempt to make us look the other way and not notice his failures.
The one and only thing he's good at is creating chaos. Buddy businessman over there waving his pretend wand is the same guy who bankrupted freaking casinos. Casinos!

I'd like to hold on to that thin thread of hope but the main problem I'm seeing is that it's his very incompetency that is screwing the country over. He's making all the markets uncertain with his idiotic trade war (going to war over a deal he bragged about when he was in office, no less), he's realigning global trade agreements because countries are suddenly feeling like they can't trust the US any more, and he's essentially making the rest of the world think the US is now aligned with Russia and North Korea, because Trump is.
If he means to do all those things, he's doing a great job. Nobody else should think it's a success, though, unless they're like some irretrievably cartoonish evil character, twisting their mustache and laughing at the world's destruction.

I know. At our library board meeting, one board member who teaches in a neighboring town said they were having absentee problems because ICE had swept up some parents, but left the kids. Neighbors were caring for kids but they have no help so families are just staying behind doors.
Also. Federal lunches and breakfast are going to be canceled, teachers are worried about feeding kids. I told this to a Trump supporter, their response was, 'let's see if that really happens.' What an utter asshole.
It's like Trump and his zillionaire minions can't bear the thought of any funds being used for any purpose other than further increasing their already obscene wealth and power.
No precept or claim is more suspect or more likely to be false than one that can only be supported by invoking the claim of Divine authority for it--no matter who or what claims such authority.
Schmo, people couldn't be following what's going on and be okay with it.
I suspect there's a huge segment of the population who love it. I think there's a large contingent of idiots whose lives are so miserable, they didn't vote for someone who'd make their lives better. They voted for someone to make everyone else's lives as horrible as theirs are. Trump fans are broken people. They have to be.
Yet, if Biden or any other Democrat leader did even a fraction of the things Trump has been justly criticized for, they would probably be screaming their heads off in outrage!

Thank you for that excellent analysis of what Trump and his sycophants are doing to our country. Everyone should read it and take heed.
Thank you also for linking to those powerful presentations by Lawrence O'Donnell and Rachel Maddow. I had already seen them and would have posted about them myself, if you hadn't beat me to it. We need more journalists like that who have not been cowed into submission by Trump's threats. I fear, though, that it won't be too long before Trump attempts to censor them and take away the broadcast licenses of the news organizations who employ them. I hope he doesn't manage to get away with that! One slim hope we have is that Amy Comey Bryant will continue to rule against some of Trump's worst abuses and that Justice Roberts will join her in that, along with the three remaining Justices who are not insanely MAGA.
It's frightening that Jeff Bezos, who owns the Washington Post seems to be in the process of turning that newspaper into yet another Trump propaganda outlet.

I know we've talked about several times before, Gunnar, but I still find myself amazed that there are people so broken and desperate that they aren't satisfied with having billions of dollars. They have an insatiable, unfillable hole in the lives. Wealthy people would deserve pity if it weren't for the fact they seem to have no problem damned over the masses to compensate for their incurable lack.

Yes, we have talked about this before, and I am as flabbergasted as you are that there are people like Musk and Trump who can never be satisfied with how much wealth they have, no matter how much they already have, and no matter how many other people have to suffer in order to enable them to increase their wealth without limit. It is literally a kind of mental illness!
Just think, Elon Musk could give up 200 billion dollars of his wealth and still remain one of the richest people on earth, if not the richest person on earth! If that 200 billion dollars were evenly distributed amongst the 36.8 million Americans who are below the poverty line, that would be more than $5,400 per person! I wish more billionaires were more like Warren Buffet, who advocates that all billionaires should be taxed at least 30% of their income. I don't believe any individual on earth needs or deserves to earn more than a million dollars per year, let alone billions or hundreds of billions. If anyone can't be satisfied with an annual income of a million dollars or more, there is something seriously wrong with them!
