TDS

Post by Hound of Heaven »

I've been on a wild 10 day internet treasure hunt looking for a cure for Trump derangement syndrome! I've chatted with a whole bunch of folks, psychologists, psychiatrists, therapists, and just some good old common sense people. It's been quite the adventure! And sadly, I've reached the conclusion that there's no remedy for Trump derangement syndrome.

I wanted to kick off this thread to let all of you who are grappling with Trump derangement syndrome know that it's totally fine to be in this boat! Even if there’s no cure in sight, I’m here to lend a hand and help lighten your load. I’ll do my best to chat in a way that’s sensitive to your situation, and I promise to be your cheerleader through it all!

I get it, dealing with Trump derangement syndrome is like wearing a pair of really warped glasses that make everything look a bit wonky. It’s almost like you’ve stepped back into your Mormon days, where the world felt like it was teetering on the edge of a cliff. But hey, I’m here to show you that being a progressive with that syndrome is kind of like being in a club where everyone thinks the sky is falling, just with a different set of rules and a slightly different flavor of panic!

I consider myself quite lucky that when I bid farewell to the church, I managed to steer clear of jumping into another cult, like progressivism, to help me find my way in life. I can only picture the struggle you all must be experiencing, jumping from Mormonism right into another wild ride, the rollercoaster of progressivism. And oh, the agony of realizing there's a brighter path ahead, if only you could shake off that pesky Trump derangement syndrome!

Alright, to all the delightful folks on this board grappling with a serious case of Trump derangement syndrome, don’t be shy! Go ahead and throw any questions my way that might help lift your spirits. I'm absolutely here to lend a hand, or at least a finger! I totally get it! I see why you're feeling all twisted up inside, why you might be throwing some serious shade, and why it seems like the world has hit the pause button on your life. But hey, I'm totally here for you! While I may not have cracked the code for Trump derangement syndrome, I'm here to sprinkle a little joy and help you all navigate through the chaos! Let's lighten the load together! Don't be shy, throw your questions my way!

Frankly, boring and repetitive.

If that's all you have to contribute to the board, please don't bother. I'm sure there are many more interesting ways for you to spend your time.

It appears that you have been unable to find a cure for your debilitating TDS. My condolences.

If a remedy for TDS exists (and TDS is as real as real gets), I haven't seen it. Worse, is that once individuals have their minds taken captive by TDS, the TDS begins to eat away at any remaining reason, balance, and/or healthy skepticism that may have been present prior to becoming infected by such a debilitating and reason-robbing mental condition. Honestly, I have never seen anything quite like it.

What is the cure? I have no idea. If I had to guess, I would guess that such a cure (if there actually is one) might be found within the individual that is suffering from TDS on a case-by-case basis. Other than that, I can't imagine anyone breaking free from TDS.

It's weird that the list of folks suffering from TDS includes many people who used to work closely with Trump. Maybe he's a carrier?

Maybe someone should hold a telethon?

This is as good a synopsis of the MAGA mindset I’ve seen yet.

Thank you, Ceebs, for describing how Trump voters so often act.

Every time someone says 'TDS' an angel gets its wings.

Canpakes: put yourself in their shoes. Try to draw an unbroken line from the 'law and order' and 'family values' Republican party to the Republican party of today -- but there's a catch! -- your explanation cannot include 'loss of moral compass' or 'we didn't really mean it in the first place.'

You see the problem, yes? It's an untenable position. So when someone observes that the Emperor is naked, suggesting that they suffer from TDS is a perfectly natural coping mechanism. And a relatively benign one at that -- much better than shooting up a school, at any rate.

It seems that it requires a somewhat deranged mindset to post - as a fluffy, out-of shape sexual abusing convicted felon - an A.I.-generated pic of oneself decked out with rippling muscles and holding his big red stick. Bonus derangement points for not remembering that red lightsabers were the trademark weapon of the Sith, if I remember correctly.

Yes, this is how Trump and his followers envision themselves.

Between the image itself, the text that accompanied it, and the fact that the leader of a modern country posted it on his official social media account, there’s definitely some derangement happening here.

You know what would be really deranged? Posting an A.I. image of him as the Pope! Now *that* would be something, eh? Wait -- my PM folder is exploding.
