If Ghislaine Maxwell's case is taken up by the Supreme Court, and the majority sides with her on the arguments surrounding Epstein's initial plea deal language on immunity for co-conspirators, would that mean that Trump, Clinton, Stephen King, et.al. would be granted immunity by default as well?
I guess the question then becomes are they co-conspirators or were they just "johns" caught up in what looks like a honey-pot type of blackmail operation. I think the latter and they couldn't be shielded by the plea agreement. I don't think they were intended third party beneficiaries of that plea deal. Ghislaine arguably could have been, but, the 2nd Circuit held the that the plea agreement did not cover other districts as is common practice. Also, I doubt the Supreme Court will look at the case.

Just a reminder that it was about four and a half years ago when Ira Rosen published his memoir ("Ticking Clock: Behind the Scenes at 60 Minutes"), in which he recounted an interview with Maxwell, in which Maxwell said that Epstein had tapes of Trump and Clinton with underage girls, and if she could get her hands on them, she'd only pass them to Rosen if he would expose both Trump and Clinton, and not just Trump.
Trump never denied the claims in Rosen's interview. Rosen worked for 60 Minutes, and despite Trump being sue-happy with 60 Minutes (and everyone else), he never tried to sue Rosen for the claim.
It's things like that that make me think there's absolutely no amount of bad stuff that Trump could do that would lose him the support of the majority of Republicans. Cults gonna cult.
Similarly, despite knowing this, and everything else about Clinton, the DNC still platformed him at the convention.

That’s correct. And for some, because of who they are and how they grapple with their own ego, as opposed to it being about Trump’s record.

What may be every bit as bad or worse is that there is probably nothing a Democrat or progressive could do, no matter how laudable, beneficial, noble or even demonstrably necessary to preventing or ameliorating impending catastrophes of any kind, that would convince a majority of Republicans to vote for them instead of Trump. I find this immensely depressing and frightening for our future and that of our descendants. And Trump and his minions make no secret of the fact that they will do anything in their power to rig things to make it impossible to ever again lose their stranglehold on American politics and government, no matter how great the majority of the American populace who oppose them and their policies. I have heard MAGA supporters even openly endorse ending elections altogether, if that's what it would take to keep themselves permanently in power.

No precept or claim is more suspect or more likely to be false than one that can only be supported by invoking the claim of Divine authority for it--no matter who or what claims such authority.
What is also alarming to me is that the conservative majority in the Supreme Court seems to be leaning more and more towards letting Trump get away with anything he wants to do, even if it violates established laws, including the very Constitution he vowed to defend at his inauguration. He has already said he is not sure if he will necessarily honor that vow. This is outrageously unacceptable!

From the realm of "birds of a feather," the crowd who regularly screams about the need to protect children from drag queens just had their god-emperor appoint a registered sex offender who pled guilty for statutory rape of a 16-year-old (when he was 51) to be a member of the newly created council for fitness for... *drum-roll*... children.
Because nothing says "protect the children" quite like making a registered sex offender a Council member for something involving children.
MAGA is an autoimmune disease for not only cognition, but morals and ethics.
Taylor was arrested in 2010 on rape and prostitution charges in connection with the assault of a 16-year-old girl. He pleaded guilty in 2011 to misdemeanor charges of sexual misconduct and patronizing a prostitute, was sentenced to six years of probation and ordered to register as a sex offender.
He was arrested in 2021 in Broward County, Florida, and charged with failing to report a change of residence as a sex offender. He later pleaded no contest to an amended charge and the case was closed. He was again arrested and charged with failing to report a residence change as a sex offender in July 2024, but prosecutors closed the case a few weeks later.
Isn''t that nice?
