Right. Those actions are obviously deplorable. But you're describing ICE, not the national guard, which is the focus of Hound of Heaven's post.

Agreed. The NG has mostly been placed on patrols and civil service projects and usually aren’t empowered to participate in arrests. Their impact on crime would need a closer examination than merely pointing at mystery numbers presented with no source, context or timeframe.

The NG is definitely helping prevent the crime of playing the Imperial March in public.

O’Hara was protesting against the Trump administration’s deployment of national guard troops by walking behind them and playing The Imperial March, the song used in Star Wars as a theme for Darth Vader and other figures of the hated Galactic Empire.

Before he was detained, one of the national guard members, Devon Beck, said: “Hey, man, If you’re going to keep following us, we can contact Metro PD and they can come handle you if that’s what you want to do. Is that what you want to do?”

Beck then called the police, who handcuffed O’Hara.

It certainly makes sense to claim worthy results and success for this project before time has allowed clearer realization of how it worked. Was anybody helped? Is this better than more police or other actions?
