Trump's aphasia again ...

Here is part of what Trump read from his teleprompter at a speech in the Pentagon today:
“In America, we take blows, but we never buckle, we bleed, but we do not bow, and we defy the fear, endure the flames and emerge from the crucible of every hunch and stronger, prouder and greater than ever before” Trump said.
(My bolding)

Another worrying example of the way his brain is deteriorating. But what word that fits in that sentence could he possibly have misread as "hunch"? It looks rather like a completely random speech malfunction. There seems to be something else wrong with that sentence, but let it pass.

"Punch" seems pretty natural to me. Is that an Americanism?

Maybe he's talking about the hunches people have that he's a blatant criminal, or that he doesn't give a crap about anyone but himself.
Those the the crucibles from which MAGA has emerged.
I'm kidding of course. There's no way I'm going to participate in sane-washing Trump. My real answer is that Trump isn't really thinking about what he's reading off the teleprompter, or trying to deliver it effectively. Someone else wrote it, so it doesn't interest him.
And he's dumb as crap. Let's not forget that major factor.
Is his brain deteriorating? It's hard to tell when it wasn't that sharp to begin with.

If it were noontime, maybe Trump meant Lunch.

To the free world, I'd like to apologize for our current President. Many Americans and I are deeply embarrassed, and we hope that after his term, you can find it in your hearts to forgive us for all the damage he has caused.

I'm guessing it was "the crucible of hardship" in his script, but the word 'hardship' might be beyond his third grade vocabulary reading ability. Whoever was supposed to read the whole thing out loud to him in advance failed.

That looks like a good candidate! So the original text would have been "emerge from the crucible of hardship stronger, prouder and greater than ever before", and he garbled "hardship" into "every hunch and". I'll go with that - wish we could see the original script!
