Hope from our Christian Friends

Post by Kishkumen »

I love to see that I am not the only Christian out there who is repulsed by Donald Trump. Although I do not belong to a church anymore, I consider myself Christian, and my sense of Christianity leads me to think that our current president is perhaps the least Christian man I have ever seen occupy the White House. To me that's saying a lot, because Nixon and Clinton were really terrible Christians, in my view. They poorly represented Christian values in the things they did. In constrast, I think Reagan, "W," Obama, and Biden were good Christian men in their personal lives.

So, watching all of these MAGA Christians fall all over themselves to support Trump, the most transparently wicked president in modern history, is flabbergasting to me. How could Christians support this vile, wicked man? In part, I think it is the rise of the Religious Right and Christian nationalism that can be blamed for this. Christians got a taste of political power and its possibilities, and eventually many of them just decided to throw in with the GOP. It was hard, because they kept being frustrated in their ultimate goals of returning the country to a former time of fewer liberties, when Christianity still dictated a lot more to everyone through its cultural influence. Then, at last, it paid off BIG TIME in Trump, who was willing to give MAGA Christians a real say in remaking the country to conform to their religious views.

I find it incredibly dangerous and completely abhorrent, but it is what it is. Trump makes no bones about letting MAGA Christians force their views on the rest of us. He will let them dictate to us how we live.

But, you know, not all Christians drank the Kool Aid. Not all of them believed that Trump was an agent of God as in someone who was consciously working on the right side of the ledger to get God's purposes accomplished. There are some wise Christians out there who recognize who and what Trump is. I have identified him as an anti-Christ, and I truly believe he is. He fits the New Testament vision of an anti-Christ too well. I know our resident MAGA Christians scoff at this and claim that they just see Trump as a politician. OK. Sure. I won't fight with them about these claims.

But I take greater comfort in those Christians who feel the Spirit has revealed to them that Trump is in fact an evil man and an anti-Christ:

I hope these voices start to persuade other Christians to abandon their Trump idolatry and come back to sanity. Trump is not a servant of God, is not a Christlike person, and is not working for the good. May the Good News spread, saving lots of deceived Christian souls!

I have "known" you for many years and I didn't know that you identify as Christian.

Cool.

Ah, OK, Ceeboo! Pretty sure this is not the first time I have referred to myself as a Christian on this board, but that is not surprising. I don't talk about it a whole lot. I don't like going into detail about my personal spirituality here, as I am not big on issues of "identity."

No worries.

If I would have known, I probably would have handled a recent conversation with you about Christianity a bit differently.

It's alright, Ceeboo. I am not offended, and I never gave you a reason to think that you should have handled it differently. As I said, I am not really vocal about my spiritual views.

Kish not having a tik tok account I could only listen to the audio on this. She's NOT wrong about Trump and she's not wrong when she says we need to stand up. That's exactly why I created the thread I did. I had to step out and take a stand.

I, like so many others, have heard warnings and their accompanying predictions throughout my lifetime. I have NEVER seen anything like what is happening in the world NOW. Trump is most definitely an antichrist. There is no question about that in my mind whatsoever.

There are many more Christian believers on this board than one might imagine. It is difficult, difficult, difficult, for me to see people getting caught up in the politics of the day, being wooed by whatever it is that woos them, many hanging their eternal hat on the abortion issue to support Trump, without taking a step back and viewing the total situation as it is happening. Scripture predicts this will happen. That some believers will be misled and it IS happening right now. The groundwork is being laid right before our very eyes.

Please open your eyes Christians. Take a step back, pull your head out of whatever it is that woos you to Trump, step away from the screens, and put your head, your heart, and mind in the Word. It's all there. Every bit of what you need is there.

And ask yourself this. Whose voice are you listening to?

Afterthought...I recall when things started kicking off in Israel not long ago. When it seemed like various countries and players were converging on Israel. As I thought about it while washing the dishes by hand one night I stopped and looked up at the night sky through the kitchen window and said outloud..."We're going aren't we Lord?"

That ultimately didn't happen and I've never told that to anyone until right here and right now.

I had Alexa play a praise song about Israel and sang with it, worshipping in my own way alone. All I know is that I had that sense it could really be about to happen and that I was ready.

Here is the song.

All good thoughts, Jersey. Yeah, I don't understand how people DON'T see this. I remember getting all kinds of emails from relatives back in the day about Obama being the anti-Christ, and I was not seeing how he fit the bill. Indeed, I would not have easily seen any president, even Nixon, as an anti-Christ until now. And the ways in which he appears to fit the bill are so striking that I wonder how they could possibly be ignored. But, then, one of the marks of the anti-Christ is his ability to deceive Christians, so I suppose I should not be surprised.

On the topic of the board's Christians, yes, I know there are a few out there. You are one of two I have not locked horns with, however. Usually, I am reacting to our resident Christians through the habit of clashing with them over Mormonism. Then there are those who don't really bring it up much, and I know they are there, but I do not really think about them as Christians.

There are lots of evangelicals out there who give me hope. They just don’t shout as loud.
