Oh well. The Mariners being eliminated from a spot in the World Series is nothing new, but this year it happened about six weeks later than usual. :)
Amen.

(Wilson made a few questionable managerial decisions during the playoffs - For example: taking out Woo was, at best, fairly questionable in my opinion. Wondering what, if anything, is being talked about in the local Seattle area about Wilson)
Most of the armchair quarterbacking has to do with the decision to go with Bazardo rather than Munoz. I haven't really seen much about the decision to pull Woo -- keep in mind it was only his 2nd post-injury appearance, and he was relegated to bullpen duty because stamina was a concern (when healthy he's the #1 starter). Woo threw 28 pitches on Friday and was at 38 when he was pulled on Monday. I don't know what they had in mind for a pitch count, but he had walked the leadoff hitter (Barger) on 5 pitches and his first pitch to Kiner-Falefa was (luckily) a called strike on a 93 mph 4-seam meatball right down the middle. Woo's 4-seamer usually comes in at 95-97 and with better location. Two pitches later he gave up a hit on a sweeper that ended up almost down the middle, so it looked like he may have been losing his edge.

Thanks!

I didn't know that. Thanks again.

While not reaching the ultimate goal that all teams have, a pretty darn good season for the M's, in my opinion.

Woo wasn't available at all for the series with Detroit. It definitely hurt to not have our best starter healthy.

Oh, definitely. And there's reason for some optimism for next year: the core of the pitching staff remains under team control (assuming the team exercises its option to retain Munoz). Key players that may become Free Agents are Naylor, Suarez, and Polanco who is expected to decline his option.

This reminds me of those good and decent Weimer Republic men who put up the tree at Christmas time and pretended they didn't know what was going on across the street at the Jewish family residence. The law was getting enforced; I supposed that's all they needed to know. Happy thoughts and positivity, and let's talk soccer! Disgusting.

Nobody cares about your stupid baseball thread.
Since the WS begins tonight, I thought I would extend an olive branch to you Gad. I am smoking eight slabs of ribs and two dozen chicken breasts. Ribs have been on for several hours at this point and I am getting ready to get my other smoker going for the chicken. Lots of sides plus Ceeboo's world famous sweet and sticky BBQ sauce.

Game starts at 8pm - guests will start arriving around 7pm.

You are invited - I hope you decide to come.

After the horrible, nasty things you've said on this board and your extreme stereotyping of people on this board, for you to write a post exactly illustrating your version of Gad's example is tone-deaf in the extreme. And pretty sickening. What a shame.

There have been 18 walks, including 5 for Ohtani, who has been on base 9 times. Yamamoto just volunteered to pitch the next inning for LA. He pitched 9 full innings two days ago. Toronto only has position players left in their 'bullpen', I think. 19 pitchers so far, in total, have pitched. 603 pitches have been thrown.

Finally. Dodgers win the longest game in world series history. Only two games have gone 18 innings, both were WS game threes, both happened in LA stadium.

(At one point the announcers were playing 'where's Waldo?' using spectators. One asked for whiskey but they settled for a fruitplate.) Interesting item, because of the extreme cold, many would-be-homeruns in the last 11 innings fell short and were caught by outfielders. There were no double plays, but every other possible thing happened.
