The circle of the Venn diagram that contains the investor apologists for this administration as well as the aloof libertarian investors is all about the inflation trade. Going all-in on gold or bitcoin is a cynical play. It reveals a lack of belief that this administration, with all its hype, will do a darn thing for the economy.
The Administration doesn’t need to do anything to help the economy. If anything, it would seem to be in their best interest to have it slide into recession. The Fed will then ease up a bit more on interest rates which will benefit the billionaires using borrowed money to buy up assets at reduced prices. Meanwhile, foreign dictators and other unsavory folks will pour money into Trump family bitcoin schemes to buy favor with the White House. Tariff announcements will be all over the map, but Trump’s friends and family will always know what’s coming within an hour prior, and can adjust their portfolios for maximum advantage. All in all, this Administration exists to serve the grifters.

Meanwhile, MAGA will either quietly ignore those increasing prices, or will pretend that rising cost of power, fuel, groceries, housing and health care are all actually ‘decreases’, and will keep their mouths shut between tries at finding a way to blame Biden and Obama for their worsening financial situation.

Cult leaders know their marks, and know the plan to follow for maximum self-enrichment.

Here’s an excellent read from Reuters:

https://www.reuters.com/investigations/ ... 025-10-28/

“These people are not pouring money into coffers of the Trump family business because of the brothers’ acumen. They are doing it because they want freedom from legal constraints and impunity that only the president can deliver.”
- Kathleen Clark, law professor at Washington University
