You'll never understand it because MAGAtes ignore the criticism (they obviously can't defend it). They'd rather "whatabout" all day. They pretend that a pedophile ring run out of the basement of a pizza parlor is the worst thing in the world (because it's run by Democrats, ya see... awful, awful Democrats), but would completely rationalize it away if they suspected the GOP running it. It's not a crime to them if the GOP does it.

At that point, they'll say idiotic things like, "It's in the past. Can't we all just move on?" Here's a news flash for these damned idiots: all crimes committed that we know about are in the past. Morons.

So yeah, it's reasonable to consider his supporters are or wish to be just as corrupt. They way they lie about everything makes that possibility a probability.

I'll never understand why Trump bragging about walking in on children getting dressed for his sexual gratification, and then multiple parents and children confirming that he did in fact regularly do that, wasn't a deal breaker. Or, y'know, bragging about sexually assaulting women, or being part of a scheme that profited off the deaths of sick Jewish kids, or his slum lord antics, or his theft from charities, or his multiple instances of wage theft, of stealing from small business, or his obvious ties to Epstein's vile shenanigans, or... ad infinitum.

I'm not comfortable just assigning a lack of intellect to it. Sure, there's plenty of research about political ideology and cognition, pattern recognition, emotional intelligence, IQ, etc. There have even been a few brain scan studies showing people who adhere to certain ideologies tend to have more pronounced activation of certain areas, with reduced brain density in others. That can certainly help explain some of Trump's appeal, but you'll find no shortage of low-information, cognitively impaired Democrat voters out there too.

About all I can ever get back to is, "humans are complicated." I have an uncle that's a Trumper. He has a Masters from Pepperdine in psychology. Served in the military, and retired as an officer. He definitely has a penchant for being a bully, but he's also immensely charitable. He has far more than enough money to simply retire in luxury, but instead he currently dedicates his time and money to buying dilapidated homes back east and in the south, renovating them, and partnering with charities to find homeless people who struggle with substance abuse to give them an opportunity to be housed, get treatment, and gain employment. On "paper," he checks off all of the boxes that would normally indicate an anti-Trumper. Educated, former high-ranking military, charitable, empathetic, etc. Yet, he is all in on Trump. He also regularly amplifies RFK's reality-detached nonsense. He's devoutly LDS, and lives in Utah, so I'm sure there's a level of social/tribal identity that defaults to "Republicans good, Democrats bad," but I just don't know how far that can carry as I have other devoutly LDS family members in Utah that are unabashedly anti-Trump.

My best friend's mom is another individual that makes it impossible for me to simply dismiss Trump support as a one-dimension thing. She's the epitome of Christlike love, unimpeachable morals, and selfless devotion. She also supports Trump.

Granted, neither of these people are full-on cultists, flying Trump flags, and wearing his mark on their foreheads, but they are unapologetically supporters of the rapist-in-chief.

Smart people get conned every day. Compassionate people are tricked into doing cruel things every day. Propaganda is a thing, because it works for multiple ideologies. Humans are complicated, and I don't think support of Trump can be distilled down into a neat little package. Are there people that support him primarily because of his cruelty, barbarism, and racism? Absolutely. Are there people that support him because he's unapologetically brutish and crass misogynist that lacks any discernable ethics or morals? Of course there are. But I think these people, while often the loudest and most visible voices, represent a minority.

Humans are complicated. Much to my delight... and perpetual consternation.

I don't know that staying clear of the danger is an option at this point; but, Rocky Suhayda was the chairman of the American Nazi Party at the time that he endorsed Trump saying that Trump provided "a real opportunity for people like white nationalists." As far as I can see (I'm not exactly an expert on these types of groups), this is the first and only time a leader of the American Nazi Party has made an endorsement of a major party candidate.

Here's the endorsement from the KKK's "Crusader" newspaper:
While Trump wants to make America great again, we have to ask ourselves, 'What made America great in the first place?'" The short answer to that is simple. America was great not because of what our forefathers did — but because of who our forefathers were. America was founded as a White Christian Republic. And as a White Christian Republic it became great.
David Duke's endorsements of Trump are a-plenty, but I can link to some specific ones if you need. When Trump was first elected, Stormfront (the white supremacist cesspool) had to upgrade their servers (link), and a lot of other neo-Nazi and white supremacist organizations saw a boost (despite them ranging from libertarian, anarchist, socialist, and capitalists on the economic spectrum -- kind of solidifying the one common denominator).

Of course, a lot of these were when he ran in the primaries for President the first time, which one would think (or hope) would have helped Conservatives to choose an alternative candidate. Currently, neo-Nazi groups, like the Aryan Freedom Network have had their leader (Henry Stout) note that Trump is "the best thing that's ever happened to us."

It's reasonable to wonder.

This is likely why they hate abortion. Less kids to rape.

And as this has been pointed out several times here, they never explain why they provide cover for pedophiles. Is it because they don't feel they need to? I mean, they're only pedophiles, so what the big deal? It's not their daughters.

The problem is that they're Trump supporters, so it's impossible to understand how they "think" given they thought a Trump vote was a good idea in the first place.

Broken toys.

I hear you.

In case it's not clear, I don't just assign a lack of intellect to it. The biggest reason for GOP support in my opinion is ignorance (much of it willful, but ignorance regardless). Some of that ignorance has got to be rooted in denial (I don't like story XYZ, so I'm going to ignore it and its implications).

I will admit that when I'm ranting here, my favorite go-to is stupidity, but I know much of it is the ignorance and belligerence of his supporters. What I have never seen is an intelligent defense of Trump. Not once. It's all emotional appeals, handwaving and redirection. Evidence never makes an appearance. It's like talking to an apologist. They don't have solid arguments so they must rely on sophistry.

And just to be clear (I've mentioned this before), smart people do stupid things. Largely what I'm pointing out is that voting and providing cover for Trump is obviously stupid behavior. So sure, someone can be smart at fixing cars or calling basketball games or whatever but completely idiotic when it comes to logic, ideology, and basic common sense.

Since ceeboo's never participated in intelligent discourse, it's possible he's just asking to find out what intelligent discourse is, being genuinely curious.

I'd like to believe that, but we know ceeboo resists the google machine for a reason.
