Jersey Girl Once Asked Me if I Thought the Orange Clown is Cruel

At the time, I cited the fact that Trump is a known rapist, and I consider rape to be pretty cruel.
But now, with the money in hand, Trump is denying millions of people food by holding back SNAP benefits. A judge orders him to pay it and he appeals the decision! And a lot of the people affected are his own idiot voters.
Why is he such a damned asshole? And why do so many people like the damned asshole?
It's amazing to me how many broken, stupid damned people live in this country. Absolutely amazing.

The effect of his behavior is cruel. The fact is that he's self referential and simply doesn't have the capacity to give 2 craps.
He's a hollow shell. A picture is worth a thousand words, in this case a video.

just as he turns to see what's happening and notice
his facial expression as he turns up his eyebrows even
before he turns away. Watch it in slow motion if you have to.

If he had so much of two brain cells to rub together he would have taken the lead and commented to those who were in the room. But he doesn't even have that to offer. He looks annoyed and inconvenienced that his shtick was interrupted.

So, you try to divine some kind of motive for Trump denying millions of people food, and what I've heard others suggest is that it's leverage. Like, he think if he starves a bunch of poor people, he'll be able to convince his base it's the Democrats' fault (because of course the bleeding heart Democrats are the ones who normally feed people, after all). There's no guarantee he'll be able to convince anyone of anything (his base idiotically believes everything he says anyway, and everyone else knows he's full of crap), but he'll starve some people, you know... just in case.
Worst damned American president ever. It's not even close. How could it be? He's a complete screwup.

I have no doubt that there are people who are pretending or have convinced themselves that the economy is great, we haven't seen more inflation this past year of Trump, and that for the most part, the economy is rocking. Tariffs are making America great again, or something, because Americans love paying taxes, especially Republicans.
People who aren't burdened by fealty to reality will tell themselves the craziest things.
