MAGA is the last vestiges of the Confederacy
A “lost” traditional America threatened by demographic change, an overbearing federal power, expanding civil rights that hurt white people, Confederate symbols displayed at MAGA rallies, former Confederate states trying to game the system, rhetoric emphasizing ‘states’ rights’, white grievance politics, nostalgia for an older social hierarchy, dispossession of black political power, amplifying white alienation through social and cultural scaremongering.
Yes, MAGA is a populist reaction against multicultural democracy and shifting national identity, but so was the Confederacy. They say The South Will Rise Again, but I think it’s actually America Finally Unclogs The Confederacy from Its Sewer Line.

There never were that many Confederates. That's why they lost the election. My six times great grandfather is said to have pointed out that this was the biggest challenge they always faced, not just inferior equipment, supply lines, and manufacturing, but they were always outnumbered.
Donald Trump got more votes from people of color than any other Republican president before him. Trump is president because he was able to break the Democrat political machines minority/majority coalition, especially among conservative working men of color.

And when the Confederates saw Jackson standing fearless like a stonewall, the army of Northern Virginia took courage and drove the federal army off their land.

Cool, but you didn’t answer this query:ajax18 wrote: ↑Thu May 21, 2026 11:12 amThere never were that many Confederates. That's why they lost the election. “Ok. Let’s test that theory. Should Trump be 25th’d and thrown in prison for trying to scam the taxpayers out of $1.776 billion dollars that he can then use to dole out for favors?”
I’ll add in making it a provision that the IRS never look at his financial assets again. That’s corruption to the highest degree and falls under being 25th’d.
Let’s see if you don’t actually worship him.

Seems expected when the black population has increased by a third over the last two decades. There are many more black and Latino voters overall now than ever.
People of color have also bought more vanilla ice cream last year than any year prior.
Simple mathematics.

Yes, Donald Trump did receive a higher percentage of the Black and Latino vote compared to previous Republican presidential candidates. Key Points:Black Vote: In the 2020 election, Trump garnered about 12% of the Black vote, which was higher than the percentages received by previous Republican candidates, such as Mitt Romney in 2012, who received about 6%.canpakes wrote: ↑Thu May 21, 2026 1:35 pmSeems expected when the black population has increased by a third over the last two decades. Latino Vote: Trump received approximately 32% of the Latino vote in 2020, which also represented an increase compared to earlier Republican candidates. For example, George W. Bush received around 40% of the Latino vote in 2004, but Trump's percentage was significant in the context of more recent elections.

Re: MAGA is the last vestiges of the Confederacy
Black Americans are more likely to be conservative Christians, with socially conservative values than White Americans. That so few of them can stomach the Republican party, and Trumplicanism in particular, is a damning indictment of just how cancerously racist MAGA is, and how it's only performatively conservative, and anti-Christian, at best.
If Republicans could go more than just a few minutes without being malignantly bigoted, spreading racist conspiracies, taking giant dumps on the teachings of Jesus Christ, and expending huge amounts of energy coddling the fragile egos of white nationalists, they could absolutely steamroll over Democrats in every election in perpetuity.

Besides, (1) your claim immediately above is not the same as your initial claim, and (2) it appears to still be very wrong, even when compared only to candidates since the 60’s. As example, here’s the reported percentage of black voters backing the Republican candidate in other years:
Nixon - 15% in 1968
Nixon - 13% in 1972,
Ford - 17% in 1976
Reagan - 14% in 1980
Dole - 12% in 1996

https://www.forbes.com/sites/theapothec ... -60-years/
So don’t go with 2020. You should use 2024, for which you’ll be less wrong. The Pew Center has Trump coming in at 15% that year, which is equal to Nixon in 1968, but still several percentage points behind Ford.
https://www.pewresearch.org/politics/20 ... coalition/
Your first claim might actually be closer to correct based on how it’s worded, but then you’re back to having to tease out the actual difference in proportion after acknowledging that the black population continues to increase each year, which adds more eligible voters to the rolls every year. That’s really the only way to make the claim meaningful.

I’m actually wondering how - based on their performance so far - MAGA could claim itself to be conservative, beyond their infatuation with how icky gay and transgender folks are, and their belief that all brown folks are trying to take their stuff.Doctor Steuss wrote: ↑Thu May 21, 2026 8:36 pmBlack Americans are more likely to be conservative Christians, with socially conservative values than White Americans. Convincing people that the poorest and most disadvantaged among us are the ones screwing us over economically is akin to convincing people they should fear the afterlife. It takes balls and demonstrates that some people will believe damned anything.
I've come to the disappointing conclusion that competence is the exception in people, not the rule.
Religion is for people whose existential fear is greater than their common sense.

Re: MAGA is the last vestiges of the Confederacy
With Trump continuously implementing things that would make Barack HUSSEIN Obama say, "wow, that's too socialist and big government for me" it's pretty apparent that the only core component of MAGA is hatred of anyone that isn't a white Christian nationalist, or subservient to white Christian nationalists. That Trump is likely an atheist just makes the irony all the more painful.
