DrC's post of that cartoon of the woman finally getting intubated after a series of 'Don't shove your masks/vaccines (etc.) down my throat' exclamations expresses a sad truth.

All the nurses, doctors and epidemiologists are trying to do is to save people's lives.

But there are others who try their hardest to stop their message getting through to the people they are trying to protect. And the result is unnecessary deaths and disaster for families, families who not only have to bear the burden of loss, but who also have to cope with the fact that the they have been horribly misled. I can only imagine how terrible that must be.

I wish these people would stop shoving their stupidity and reckless behavior down our throats.

We should designate some remote island as COVID Island, and anyone who doesn't want to join sane society can go their and stew in COVID virus maskless with the rest of the unvaccinated damned morons. We could set up another island for people who refuse to wear seatbelts, text while driving, or drive drunk, too.

Why do we let these idiots live with the rest of society anyway?

That cartoon really sums it all up quite nicely. Poor deceived woman: what a terrible responsibility is borne by the people who, for their own reasons, misled her and probably eventually caused her death.

Please continue to repost it.

Your wish is my command! But, seriously. That GQP official who doubled down until he expired is sad and astonishing. I think he must’ve felt like a martyr for the cause instead of a victim of right-wing propaganda. It’s … probably a form of psychosis.

When will Twitter, Facebook, CNN, NYT, Amazon, Apple and ban, censor and deplatform New York Magazine?

This should not be allowed. It must end or we are all going to be what we don't want to be. And if we are not that, we will be what we want to be but we will not like us. All of us.
From the article:
Lloyd Fisher, the president of the Massachusetts chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (states), “It is important for children to see facial expressions of their peers and the adults around them in order to learn social cues and understand how to read emotions.” Some children with special needs, for example those with articulation delays, may be most affected, he suggested. Fisher stressed his opinions are not to be perceived as contradicting AAP’s stance for universal masking of students but said he wanted to discuss some of the potential harms and the importance of using evidence and data to drive decisions on when to eliminate mask usage.
I’ve always been completely on board with this observation.

Continuing from the same article -
Several doctors I spoke with pointed out that the best way to shield children from COVID-19 exposure is through adult vaccination. “Our most effective way of protecting everyone, students and school staff alike, is by vaccinating the adults around them,” said Westyn Branch-Elliman, an infectious-diseases specialist at Harvard Medical School. Ashish Jha, the dean of Brown University School of Public Health, posted a thread on Twitter explaining that the vaccination rate among children under 12 is the same across the country, which is zero, of course. Yet pediatric infection rates right now vary wildly, correlating with how many adults in their area are vaccinated. And evidence suggests that staff-to-staff transmission is more common than transmission from students to staff, staff to student, or student to student.

Thanks for pointing this out, Canpakes. The vaccines are effective. This has been a common theme of every article that certain anti-vax participants of this forum have referenced for their cause.

Like Donald Trump as a "bad ass", the only evidence so far that vaccines do nothing are the bare claims themselves of our Trump supporters.

Excepting Ajax, of course. Ajax outright admits vaccines work and help a lot of people, when he's cornered. Otherwise he tries to sound anti-vax to stay in good graces with peers.

What amuses me is that these same anti-vaxxers are the folks claiming that mask-wearers are ‘living in fear’, while the anti-vaxxers spend their days wallowing in conjured anecdote and fear porn at the Great Awakening board, or LDS Freedom Forum, and others.

And check this out -

There are folks like me that work in healthcare and see examples of the vaccine not working. Who is the antivaxxer?

This anti-vaxxer’s logic demands that he never use aspirin again if it didn’t work once. And he has to deny to himself the evidence seen with his own eyes regarding how the vaccine can prevent infection, or prevent a serious reaction if infected.

But - fear and disinformation - in service of pride and ideology - needs to be upheld above truth, for folks like this.

Yeah. Again. Vaccinated folks are in the hospitals. But whatever. Y’all bigots just keep on blaming the sullied, immoral and uneducated.
There are millions more vaccinated folks out of hospitals.

Can you make a better point?

Just tell me the sources you want? Media? Twitter? Anecdote? You want examples from Doctors? Lawyers? Democrats or Republicans?

At what point is it just normal to say the vaccine is not working without getting a load of bigotry from Gadianton?
“I won’t take a vaccine because it might not work” is poor logic, especially considering that this decision could affect others that you’ll transmit it to.

Otherwise, what’s your fear of taking it?

It's indisputable fact that the vaccines are working.
