REDUNDANT *SPOILER* ALERT - Before reading this, please consult the meaning of the word SPOILERS!!!

Has anyone here watched this yet? My wife and I checked it out last night and I think I'm confident in saying I liked it better than the first one. It had a more coherent story and plot. Also, I laughed all the way through it. There are a few times, one in particular (the moon dance) that were unbearably cringe inducing, hard to watch, and impossible to look away. Your only defense is to laugh.

My wife, on the other hand, didn't find it funny as she did fascinating. All through the movie, she kept saying things like, This can't be real. They have to be in on it. No way they believe that. They can't be this stupid. I'm pretty sure she came away more disturbed than entertained. After all, it doesn't really expose the best side of America. Just look at the dudes sitting there talking about Clinton drinking blood, and totally serious. They seemed like nice dudes, too. Just insane.

There are so many things you could talk about with this movie. I think its most striking feature might be that, even though it's highly entertaining (and well-edited - this can't be stressed enough) to be a fantastic movie, I suspect that a documentary on the making of this movie would be even better. It's so culturally meta. We saw articles about what happens in this movie back when they happened and had no idea at the time they were making another Borat. We knew about Cohen doing the concert at the gun rights thing in Washington state, but had no idea it was for this film.

The other thing about this movie was the casting of Maria Bakalova to play his daughter. When you consider how much "one-take" acting happens in this show, it's remarkable someone else can do it as well as Cohen has been doing all these years. She was fantastic. Unbelievable improvisational talent.

I also loved the overlay of the COVID plot. Just awesome.

Given my *SPOILER* warnings, I'm assuming nobody's reading this if they haven't seen it but intend to, so for those who have seen it... thoughts?

I also liked it better than the first. I thought tying together all the vignettes with a very sweet father-daughter story was much more effective than the "plot" of the first movie. The protest at which he reconnected with his daughter was in Olympia, Washington, which hit close to home. I have to admit, I looked away from the screen during the fertility dance. That was too much for me. The scene in the synagogue was also pretty cringeworthy. I found the "baby" sequence to be the funniest thing I have seen in quite a while.

I do love the tension created as the view wonders whether the people in a science are in on the joke. It left me feeling a little unbalanced throughout the movie, which was fun. And I agree, the actress who played the daughter did a marvelous job.

Oh man, the baby scene... yeah. Could not stop laughing. That was pure comic genius.

I also found myself very touched by the babysitter. She seemed like a genuinely good person to me, as did the Jewish lady.

Yeah. I read that the holocaust survivor passed away before the movie was released. She was kind and sweet. Her daughter sued Borat. I'm not sure why, as the movie portrayed her in a very positive light.

I'm still surprised he was able to find two guys to live with for 5 days (that really happened) who didn't know who Borat was. I mean, I can see right wingers being against this movie, but I don't remember anything from the first one that would turn off Republicans (it occurs to me I should watch the first one again. It's been years).

It goes to show that there's so much entertainment to consume out there, it's still possible to miss something as big as Borat was. Amazing to me.
