My God, it's full of stars

Post by Res Ipsa »

Life imitates art, as mysterious monolith is discovered in the Utah desert. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/202 ... rt-of-utah

All I can say is, we did it first. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seattle_Monolith My kids loved going to see the monolith when it was installed on "Kite Hill" in Magnusson Park. I never did hear it hum or anything.

So, wow, that's pretty weird, in that this was "discovered." I guess some artist just planted it up there and is right now delighted it was finally found?

No matter what, it would have been fun to be on that helicopter.

When they dig it up, they will discover the second chapter of the Kinderhook plates right below it along with a note saying;
Zelph was here."

It is not as simple as the story seems. Local Mormons have heard strange noises emanating from this monolith, and upon touching it felt compelled to leave Utah and move to Pennsylvania in order to vote for Biden.

The Brethren of Salt Lake issued a call to the Maxwell Institute to dutifully study the issue of the monolith. A rogue group called the Interpreter Foundation intercepted a copy of the Maxwell message, and have made a counteroffer of causing the monolith to leave earth, by writing a continuing series of "hit pieces" against the monolith, challenging its legitimacy and worthiness.

Gracious, how did such an extremely unlikely explanation ever enter your head? What's wrong with the obvious explanation: that it was delivered thousands of years ago by a mysterious alien civilisation with a message to mankind saying that Trump really won the election?

Seriously, the only question is how long ago this little puzzle was set up. Let's take a sample of the metal, which is certain to be an alloy widely available in commerce (which ought to deal with the 'alien visitors' crap), and while we are at it look at the cement with which it is bedded into the rock. That will likewise tell a dull story of stuff you can buy in any building supplies store. And so on.

The Seattle Monolith thing was a ton of fun, from its initial overnight appearance on the shores of Green Lake, through its final resting place in a scrap pile in the Interbay. It's nice to have a little mystery floating around.

That's not a monolith. That's our old refrigerator.

Come on, what do you think Lowes does with the old ones? They have a pact with Utah to woo the world with their drop-offs.
