So, for me, when a Hollywood type personality I like, becomes someone I dislike, I tend to lose interest in watching their movies. Which sucks cause, some of them were good movies. What might suck more though is, being a Righty with this same disorder, in that their DVD library must consists only of Midnight Cowboy and Deliverance... and whatever James Woods movies that are even watchable in the first place.

I like James Woods as an actor. You know he played Roy Cohn, Trump's juiced in N.Y. attorney in "Citizen Cohn." I thought Woods did a great job in that film. Yes, he has gone overboard in support of everything Trump, but I try to separate the performance from the actor outside of the film.

And this is what I have a hard time doing. To my detriment. I wish I could still enjoy Mel Gibson films. Also Costner and Spacey.

For years I thought it was James Wood that played Leon Trotsky in Frida. It wasn’t until a recent re-watch that it dawned on me it was Jeffrey Rush. Once I realized my mistake I was like, “OF COURSE IT’S NOT JAMES WOOD.”

I completely relate to this, depending on the thing. For instance, it seems Prince was a bit of a prima donna and self absorbed, but those faults aren't enough for me to dislike his music.

What Louis CK did, however, absolutely affects how I see his comedy. So it really depends on the perceived offence.

James Woods seems like a total damned nutjob, so I'm with you there.

I was never a fan of him as an actor, but I have liked what he's had to say recently.

It somehow feels wrong, however, to deny how screwed up the right is these days. His advice seems to be, stop talking about that. Seriously, why is normality, decency and a functioning country only up to the left? It's like looking to the wife of an alcoholic to save the marriage and telling her to stop criticizing her husband's problems. What's his responsibility in the equation?

Damned if you do, damned if you don't. I'm left with chronic pessimism about humanity.

Or, another way to look at it is, he thinks we may need some of the right side back at least slightly to the middle to wright the ship, and have a better chance at getting those criminal b*stards out of office... so don't say things to alienate them (the right) further

No, I know. I read the whole article. I'm taking issue with this exact point.

As I've said before, they are already alienated, and largely of their own choosing. It doesn't matter what anyone else says; they will find a way to take offense. They're of the butthurt, world-is-out-to-get-me attitude, whiny to the end. My point, therefore, is that there's no point worrying about what they think. They never worry about anyone else, so I don't see the point worrying about them.

And by the way, it's not really 50%. It's a subset of GOP voters. The problem for "the rest of the party" is that they affiliate with a party that advertises repugnant, whiny ideas. The crap rubs off on everyone in the party. They can either disassociate or smell like crap.
