COVID came to our house last week. It started with our daughter and her roommates calling to let us know two members of their household had tested positive with symptoms. My wife had just spent an afternoon with them the day before, and she tested positive the following day.

I took a test each morning as well, coming up negative and no symptoms. It's been over a week with everyone now testing negative.

It also happened I had gotten the latest booster plus the flu shot the week before due to being a presenter at a conference. So not really anything more than an anecdotal bit of evidence, but I'll take a shot over getting sick any day.
Glad to hear you escaped, Honor, and that no one had a serious case.

I got fluvalently boosted today. Or maybe bivalently floosted. Or whatever the term is for having two sore arms tomorrow.
Hmmm...the Boy was told not to get them at the same time. I don't recall why but the advice was at least 2 weeks apart. Apparently it doesn't matter? Good luck!

I think it likely that our symptoms were so mild because we all previously had 3 doses of the vaccine.
I think it's more than likely that the virus got more contagious and less lethal. Covid never was much more than a common cold for 99.96% of us under 70. In spite of all your lockdowns, quarantines, mask mandates, vaccine mandates, and socialist distancing, you all were eventually infected with it just as said you would be. And what happened? Did you die from it? Are you permanently disabled now? Can you name me one person on this board who died or was disabled from COVID? The scamdemic is over. Even Biden with what little cognitive function he has left admitted this before his handlers walked it back. If you want to keep the kids out of school, people out of work and home collecting a check, and utterly sabotage the world economy as you've done for the past 2 years, you're going to have to use your climate change angle. The COVID jig is up and it's been up for a long time.
And when the Confederates saw Jackson standing fearless like a stonewall, the army of Northern Virginia took courage and drove the federal army off their land.

Thanks, Res. Also anecdotally, this booster is the first COVID I've had that really felt sore the next couple of days. The others were minimally tender. I'm curious if you notice a difference?

Wow. There is something they're calling (I think) Super Dodgers. That is those of us who have never contracted Covid. Still and all, I'd like to think it was your booster that gave your super powers! I'm glad you dodge it and am very sorry to hear about your family members.

I still haven't gotten the new booster. I don't remember why, but I just haven't gotten to it yet. Too many irons in the fire.
Thanks, Jersey Girl. I don't want to mirror the hoax folks by placing the entire weight of a position on an anecdote, but like you I don't think the booster timing was inconsequential.

Regarding getting the flu shot at the same time, the clinic was actively asking so I figured it would save me a trip. Interestingly, I am one of the people whose behavior has changed due to COVID. After the service, I never voluntarily got a flu shot because it left me feeling fluish for a day or two after. It seemed best just to risk catching it which I often avoided. COVID was an education in seeing the role of being a vector as a moral issue that affects others, potentially fatally, which seems to be something I missed before.

Thanks. Not sure why they told JB two weeks apart. 🤷🏼‍♂️

I got Covid a couple months ago after some travel. I'd decided the normal booster path wasn't for me given less effective with Omicron and Omicron is less deadly. The side effects of Moderna were moderately intense so wasn't looking forward to that either. I will probably wait a bit and look into the targeted boosters.

I thought I had strep, went to urgent care and ordered a strep test. They wanted me to test for Covid also and sure enough. With the exception of the sore throat, Omicron was a mild flu. But that sore throat, good god, wasn't the worst I've had but could rank third or fourth. I possibly had the original Wuhan strain in Feb 2020 after a trip; whatever it was, it was significantly worse than Omicron and the sickest I've ever been sans bacterial infection.

They did send me back with Paxlovid. It works, like, within 4 hours I could feel a difference. However, the side effects of that are insane, and I've had what I believe are very mild relapses at least twice since. Next time I won't take the Pax. I have to say given the severity of that sore throat, it will definitely be worth giving the targeted booster a try.

I think the pandemic has heightened awareness in most of us or I'd like to think so. I'll try to get my booster soon here. Seems I have too many irons in the fire and keep putting it off.

Flu shot arm was never sore. COVID arm has mild soreness. I ran out of gas about 4:00 this afternoon and took a nap, but I have no idea if that was the booster.
