Why Pence and others aren't heroes

I realize it's obvious. They did the minimum, and only when their own backs were against the wall did they act. It's okay for others to die in the fire as long as it's not them.
The president sits back and gives vague instructions to maintain deniability for himself, while his followers are expected to read between the lines and take the risk and commit the crimes. And look at where that's getting his supporters who breached the capitol? He's denying the whole thing. He's threatening them that they will pay. And when I looked over the comment section at Sic et Non, where some far-right Mormons post, sure enough, those who caused real damage were ANTIFA agents who had infiltrated the peaceful Trump protest and waged a false flag. And so, those who finally did the Savior's bidding can go to jail and be cast aside by their god and their peers and get trampled on as the dirt that they are. And yes, they are dirt.
Pence and others were faced with committing obvious crimes and expected to take the risk, because at any time, their Savior would deny any association with it. Some of the crimes the president expected his supporters to commit would be career ending and prison going. Such as, Bill Barr, you are expected to fabricate evidence for election fraud and bring the case, and judges, you then are expected to overturn the election. The amount of coordination needed between officials to play a coup by ear is just too much, it's too complicated, especially when the crimes to rally behind would be glaringly obvious. And so faced with the eternal wrath of the Savior, the only decision is to say "no", or step down, or wait to get fired. Because all of those things will happen anyway, and likely far worse, if you follow the command.
