It is so ironic that they are in mortal danger, not from those "evil Democrats", but from extremist, fellow Republicans.

There are many examples of this, but my go-to for illustration is red light cameras in California. After years of heavy-handed enforcement, the whole system imploded and they all got ripped out, from LA to San Diego, at least.
It sounds to me like the majority of people just aren't willing to obey the law.
If the GOP had really shot themselves in the foot by rejecting candidates who were unwilling to enforce the border, Trump would never have won in 2016. Nor would 74 million people have voted for him in 2020. There's a minority of Republicans who think an open borders platform will win them elections. They're wrong. Granted there are a lot of people who want open borders, guranteed income, high taxes (that they themselves will never have to pay) but these people will always vote Democrat anyway.

Most people are not for illegal immigration. People being against construction off the destructive wall is not being for illegal immigration. President Biden is correct to end construction of the stupid wall. Trump was wrong to go around Congress to use their power of the purse to build his wall.
Any republican who would have said what Clinton said would be
censored on social media and possibly fired from their job for it.
What about what Reagan stated during the Republican primary debate with George Bush?? Reagan during that debate came out against having a border fence.
Link
Trump ended up declaring an unconstitutional National emergency along the border when there were already about 654 miles of fencing and barriers along the border.
If Reagan was alive today, he would be considered a RINO.

And all that we ended up with was 47 miles of new wall anyway. The remainder just replaced existing wall portions.

It worked out well for Trump’s grifter friends. For ajax’s bank account, not so well.

Do you think Reagen would have granted amnesty in exchange for border enforcement if he knew that border enforcement was never going to happen?

Serious question Brackite, Do you think so called RINOs want taxes lowered, welfare spending reduced, more take home pay, to stop socialists like Bernie Sanders? If they do, how has only speaking up against people to their right and voting for Obama twice (as in the case of Colin Powell) helped accomplish that? I call them RINOs because I can't find any evidence of them ever accomplishing any conservative agenda items. No actual border enforcement, no welfare cuts, none of it. In the case of Kasich he wouldn't even agree to deporting people here illegally in the debate. If you can show me different than go ahead. Reagan certainly was no RINO. He lowered taxes, lifted all boats through capitalism, and fought back against the rise of generational welfare. When people ask me if Colin Powell or Mitt Romney will run again, I can't help but ask if they'll be running as Democrats. They'll never win the primary nor have they done or even said anything worthy of our support.

In addition to speaking out about enforcing the border, Bill Clinton
lowered taxes,
lifted all boats through capitalism, and fought back
against the rise of generational welfare. It seems you not only lack a coherent political philosophy, but also lack a basic understanding of what Democrats believe and value.

Clinton was harder to pin down on an issue than Romney.
