Lockdowns model planned recessions

Post by ajax18 »

Exclusive — Marc Morano: ‘Lockdowns’ Are ‘Essentially a Model’ for Green New Deal’s ‘Planned Recession’
Coronavirus lockdowns are a preview of what would be permanently imposed on Americans if the Green New Deal were to be enacted as law, explained Marc Morano, author of Green Fraud: Why the Green New Deal Is Even Worse than You Think and editor of Climate Depot, on Tuesday’s edition of SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Daily with host Alex Marlow, author of Breaking the News: Exposing the Establishment Media’s Hidden Deals and Secret Corruption.

Morano noted, “Every major environmental figure [and] climate activist has praised the COVID [coronavirus] lockdowns as essentially a model for what we should be doing with climate, so that gives you an idea of where they want to go with the Green New Deal.”

“It’s an endless parade of human-punishing regulations,” he added.

Marlow recalled advocacy from U.K.-based academics for future “climate change” policies to draw from the coronavirus lockdowns.

He added, “We need to be on guard for this, because if we leave them to their own devices, they will do this. They will force us to start giving up immeasurable amounts of freedom, telling us that that’s necessary to save Earth.”

Democrats and the broader left regularly frame “climate change” as a function of the burning of fossil fuels.

Morano noted lockdown decrees amount to manufactured depressions and are modern manifestations of decades-old left-wing political advocacy marketed as “environmentalism.”

“What is a lockdown but a planned recession?” he asked. “I’ve been to multiple U.N. summits where they actually openly talked about — years ago, long before anyone heard of COVID — [how] we need planned recessions in order to fight global warming. The less economic activity, the better for the planet. … When you now hear that they want a lockdown every other year to fight climate change, that’s consistent with what they’ve been saying since the 1970s.”

Morano noted that Green Fraud contains nearly 100 pages of footnotes documenting claims, proposals, and other statements from left-wing figures — activists, academics, bureaucrats, celebrities, and politicians — regarding “climate change.”

Morano highlighted left-wing advocacy for eating insects as a substitute for meat, ostensibly to combat “global warming.”

“They’re pushing insect eating,” he remarked. “Nicole Kidman from Hollywood has been doing videos on this. You have the World Economic Forum [and] the United Nations pushing it. I feature climate activists talking about all the protein in insects. This is an all-out attack on meat. So even though it’s funny to laugh about farting cows, and we do laugh, it’s an actual another part of an agenda [sic], they’re they’re trying to change how we live.”

He continued, “When you hear [about] farting cows, that is their attack on meat-eating. … The United Nations climate chief wants restaurants to force meat eaters — like they used to do with smokers — to the back of the restaurant or outside. They want to ban start banning meat-eating across the country.”

He added, “They also are promoting these processed vegetable burgers made of 30 ingredients. Al Gore’s on a goal to be the world’s first fake-meat billionaire. He had an IPO timed with the United Nations meat-eating report.”

Morano identified the leftist connections between ostensibly public-health-related lockdown decrees, the Great Reset, and “climate change” advocacy in terms of increasing centralization of state power.

President Joe Biden’s opposition to fossil fuel production and consumption increases the risk of future wars over energy and other resources, Morano warned.

He said, “We are trading American energy dominance [for energy dependence]. For the first time since 1952, America, under President [Donald] Trump, actually had more energy exports than imports. We were the largest producer of oil and gas in the world. Joe Biden’s first acts are to shut down fracking, shut down the remaining economy, shut down any mining in the U.S.”

“All that’s going to do is make endless wars possible,” he concluded, “and then make them necessary as we’re going to now fight over mineral rights.”

Breitbart is either totally dishonest or totally clueless or both, and as long as you take them seriously, you will remain totally clueless too, Ajax. Nothing would more surely guarantee endless wars over mineral rights and natural resources than failure to establish a green, sustainable economy based on reliance on renewable energy sources, energy efficiency and a sane, aggressive and ethical conservation of natural resources commitment. I am amazed at your stubborn inability or refusal to see that clear "writing on the wall."

About eating insects, why so adamantly opposed to that? Insects are just another type of arthropods like shrimp and crustaceans like crabs and lobsters, which many people enjoy eating. Certain insects are even regarded as desirable gourmet delicacies in some cultures. They are a great source of protein and can even be quite tasty. I have tried fried mealworms (for example) myself when offered to me, on occasion (though I don't generally make it a point to seek them out) and found them rather tasty - resembling shrimp in flavor. Your disgust at the thought of eating insects is more a matter of cultural prejudice than anything else.

And who is advocating planned recessions? That is total nonsense! Transitioning to a green economy and renewable energy can and will create great economic and entrepreneurial opportunities and job creation. Already jobs are growing much faster in the renewable energy sector, and they tend to be higher paying and safer jobs than in fossil fuels. Jobs opportunities in coal, for example, are actually declining drastically, and good riddance! Who would really want the dirty, dangerous job of coal mining, if other options were available - especially if such options are actually growing faster in number than coal jobs are declining?

Ajax, the stuff you post is getting dumber by the day. Do you really thing the average person posting here knows so much less than you do? What do you get out of this?

We've never had "energy dominance", as if that in the abstract is something we should be shooting for. Why not wheat dominance, or auto manufacturing dominance? We should produce according to comparative advantage.

We were net oil exporter in 2011, I don't think Trump was president then. Natural gas happened as predicted long before Trump became president. We were the largest producer back in 2010s. Increases in oil production were far greater during Obama's presidency than Trump's. That only makes sense since fracking was invented back then.

Oh yeah, there it is. An invention that makes us the low-cost producer. That could argue for seeking "dominance". Except, for Trump it meant 'fight fire with fire' -- try to push our exports onto other nations even in cases where it doesn't make sense. Fracking is expensive; oil isn't 110 a barrel anymore. Right now WTI crude just hit 57.74$. We need that at about 70$ to be profitable. Biden might not have to shut anything down for a while with prices in the gutter like this. If you want fracking, you'll need to ask OPEC to cut output even more.

Maybe further advances can make it cheaper to do? Maybe, but how much does that cost? How much does it cost relative to green initiatives? do you know? If so, then make the case. Otherwise STFU, as always, because you don't actually know anything.

Glad you made that multi-choice. I would guess 90% dishonest.

Just rely on oil from countries that hate us who could cut production any time they decide to do so?

Very likely true.

The global economy is complex, Ajax. It's not a matter of kill or be killed. Fracking and imaging were important technological breakthroughs. Recall, in the 70's and 80's, and even persisting into the 2000's you'd hear about "peak oil" theory? Remember how Mormonism used to believe in food storage? When considering the serious prospect that oil might run out soon, it makes a good deal of sense to preserve your own oil fields as a kind of national "food storage", while consuming foreign oil. If I eat at McDonalds, does that put me at the risk of starvation should they raise prices or cut supply?

What do the big oil producers outside of the US have in common? The Middle East and Russia? They've got nothin'. Being an oil exporter is about like being in warehousing and trash collection. And perhaps OPEC is like the mob in the analogy, but it's not like it's high on the priority list to bring in-house when dominating in computer technology, biotech, financial services, and whatever else. Trump is a real estate guy from New York. The mob perspective is easy to understand. He sees Russia out there selling their oil and in his mind, it's like Russia making the world suck its dick. That's what he wants for the US, where he's the new mob boss in town. And screw the high-tech stuff worth far more, that he doesn't understand, and rubs him the wrong way.

If your gardener raises rates does that mean you should quit your job as an optometrist and become an "exporter" of gardening services?

Well, it depends on a lot of factors. Fundamentally, let the lesser nations do the dirty work while we do the innovative stuff. But world demand for oil goes up, prices goes up, maybe OPEC gets greedy, and maybe there is a point to enter the market? There probably is. But you're looking at it totally backwards. You're looking at it as if, crap, the US needs to become the world leader in warehousing, or gardening, or window washing. And it needs to break treaties and stab everyone in the back to get there. That's putting the US first. It's like, telling your kids to work out and get tough so they can beat up the local mob and take over the town garbage truck instead of going to medical school.

So high-tech oil makes a certain amount of sense, as prices rise, world demand goes up, and as concerns about long-term oil availability lessen. But it doesn't make absolute sense. However, Trump, like you, is looking at the absolutist, zero-sum mob boss model, and was trying to force deals on other countries that would have actually screwed the US, because we wouldn't have been able to produce cheaply enough to be profitable.

But I think it was around 2013-2014 that the world economy slowed down, demand for oil dropped, and it becomes less profitable to produce oil the exotic way.

But go back to your original statement. Your fear of the US relying on exporters. Look at how much oil places like Kuwait produce. Now look at pictures of Kuwait. Supposing that the US went back to being an importer of oil only, are you really concerned that should places like Kuwait get pissed and quit selling to us, that we really, really couldn't figure out how to do it ourselves if we have to? Likewise, I'm sure even you -- well okay, I have a few doubts -- could figure out how to mow your own lawn if your gardener quit on you.

Don't be stupid, we've never been "dependent" on foreign oil. Foreign food might be a bigger concern, but food doesn't have that same macho ring to it that oil has.

We can only produce more here if you are willing to pay more consistently.

What will it be?

Reminder: as an option, alternative energy sources are all domestic. Not sure why conservatives hate using domestic alternatives, preferring instead to send gobs of cash to nations funding terrorism.

Bonus: a little easy reading from the American Petroleum Institute themselves...

Exporting fossil fuels is trading long term national security for short term financial gain.

It’s stupid for any country to do. Especially a large industrialized country.

Or so my opinion goes.
