Schadenfreude: GaetzGate

If any word deserves citizenship in the English language, it's schadenfreude. But there is a special zest to the experience when Matt Gaetz is the main course.
Matt Gaetz existed at the periphery of my political consciousness until he was seen wearing a gas mask while Congress was conducting briefings on Covid. I must admit, as a publicity stunt it got my attention, although probably not in the way Congressman Gaetz had hoped.
He looks like the younger fraternity brother of Don Junior. The Scion of a wealthy South Florida political family, he has the same alpha-dog-frat-boy-rat-pack mentality, the locker room talk lifestyle.
So what are the principles that define Gaetz when he takes an unpopular stand?
The Combating Human Trafficking in Commercial Vehicles Act passed the Senate by unanimous consent in September 2017. When the House passed the bill in December 2017, Gaetz was the only no vote. President Donald Trump signed the bill into law in January 2018. When he was in the Florida State Legislature, Gaetz was 1 of 2 who voted against a Revenge Porn Bill. So I guess he's a real civil libertarian, as evidenced by his sharing of nude photos of sexual conquests while on the floor of the House of Representatives.
So what do Republican women think? He's been asked to speak on Friday at the Save America Summit, organized by Women for America, a pro-Trump group.

To be fair, Gaetz has not yet been charged with a crime, but you don't need to be a weatherman to know which way the wind blows. When you see someone as shallow, venal and opportunistic as Matt Gaetz start to down...Rep Matt Gaetz has been a fearless leader in DC. Few members of Congress have been more willing than Matt to stand up & fight on behalf of President Trump & his America First Agenda.
