Will this Kind of Outrage Never Stop?

Cops Immediately Arrest Black Man, Not White Suspect
In this story a white woman called 911 because her white boyfriend was abusing her. Cops were sent out to apprehend the suspect, but it was not immediately made clear to them what the race of the suspect was. They only knew that a man had assaulted a woman. So, when they got to the neighborhood, they immediately went after the first black man they saw, who was just outside his own house taking out the trash, and when he tried to find out what they were arresting him for, he was immediately put in handcuffs and charged with resisting arrest and roughed up by the cops. His black girlfriend who rushed out in her bathrobe to defend her guy was also arrested and manhandled by the cops, partially losing her bathrobe in the process, exposing her nude body. Meanwhile, the white, real culprit they were sent out to apprehend got away scot free, having not been considered even for a second by the cops to be whom they were looking for. If this is not systemic racism, what is? Why did they just automatically assume that the one black guy they saw was necessarily the suspect they were looking for?

Thanks for that, and for correcting my initial misapprehension that Austin's girlfriend, who tried to intervene, was also black.

Closely related to this topic is this little gem: Trump Supporter: White People Don't Belong In Jail.
Meet Jenna Ryan, one of the insurrectionists who helped break into the Capitol on January 6 and who famously claimed, despite being charged with 4 felonies:
Definitely not going to jail. Sorry I have blonde hair white skin a great job a great future and I'm not going to jail. Sorry to rain on your hater parade. I did nothing wrong
Contrast that with the duly elected Georgia State Legislator who was immediately arrested as soon as she knocked on the Governor Kemp's office door, who intended no violence or discourtesy of any kind. She merely wanted to have a talk with the Governor in her capacity as a duly elected government official and was immediately charged falsely of resisting arrest merely for politely questioning why they were apprehending her. Does anyone doubt that Ms. Ryan would not have survived her part in the January 6 insurrection had she not been a white woman?

Hopefully Jenna Ryan's boast that she won't wind up serving a well deserved prison sentence proves to be wrong!

It didn’t matter that Army Lt. Caron Nazario was serving his nation. It didn’t matter that he had apparently violated no law. It didn’t matter that he was respectful and tried to de-escalate the encounter. Only one thing mattered. He was a black man and the white cops wanted to put him in his place.

U.S. Army Lt. Caron Nazario told police he was “honestly afraid to get out” of his SUV, according to video of the incident. "You should be,” one officer said.

Why are these racist mother idiots allowed to be cops?

I guess if there are any liberal policemen, they don't stay liberal very long.

I suppose being a policeman won't buy you this kind of lifestyle. To each according to need! She's a self described Marxist, just like Analytics.

You're a dishonest idiot who never heard her describe herself as such - not that you would even understand what that meant - you're just running with a FOX headline with your brain shut down.

This pisses off Right Wingers simply because it is a black female making more money than them.

How does any of the above in any way alter or diminish the validity of the point made by the OP of this thread? You're grasping at straws that have nothing whatsoever to do with the topic under discussion!

One of the greatest challenges in policing is psychologically screening the applicants. A lot of people want to carry a badge and a gun for less than pure reasons. Those officers were escalating the situation, looking for an excuse to use violence. Every cop that slips through psychological screening has the potential of costing a city hundreds of thousands of dollars.

But there is also the blue brotherhood of silence. If you rat on a fellow officer, you can potentially face a life of ostracism within the department. That happens not only with racism, but brutality and corruption as well. So the problem of racism is one of several that find shelter under the code of silence.
