Now that they're introducing many more American foods into their diet, especially dairy products, they're getting taller. People that short in Japan will soon be a thing of the past.

You might be interested in my weblog, wherein I transcribe my missionary journal.

Cool, I'll check it out. For you, then, a couple more details. The bike pic was taken in Kanazawa, the green guy and the little obaachan were both in Yokkaichi. I was also in Shiroko and Toyohashi. Kanazawa was my favorite place overall.

I recently pulled out my own journal and re-read it. It was somewhat depressing.

(Love your sig. That was my favorite line from PW's blog.)

I went to Kanazawa a couple of times for zone conferences, but that's it. I never got to Yokkaichi.

I was also in Shiroko and Toyohashi.

Shiroko must've been shut down by the time I got there, since I've never heard of it. Although Toyohashi was still open, I never made it there, either.

Was Komaki still an active area when you were there?

The places I was in were (in order) Fukutoku, Okazaki, Inuyama, Takefu, and Meito-Kita.

(Love your sig. That was my favorite line from PW's blog.)

Yeah, it's classic, isn't it?

He he. It's those tall Johnson genes.

As Shades says, it's changing quickly, but 30 years ago we tended not to lose each other in crowded trains and subways (you've probably heard tales of how tightly they jam people in), because our heads were safely up above the sea of black hair.

Gaz, you shouldn't have made it so easy for me.

I'm trying to find a picture of Voldemort mixed with Hitler mixed with a stripling warrior to fit this mug.

I'll get there.

Don't remind me... I seem to be the only person who got stuck with the Quilter genes.

Joel (my brother... don't know if you know him or not) went to Sopporo (sp?) on his mission. Every picture would have this 6'3" giant.

Have you (or Shades) ever been back since your mission(s)?

Yes, I had a pure toe-head dooryo in Kobe (78) that got so many looks you'd think he was a celebrity! He got us alotta free meals and "foots-in-the-door," but not many baptisms. They were more interested in him than our message....

Once again I ask the question...who's going to take religious advice from a child? (no offense...but you look about 14 1/2 in this picture man :)

Awwh yes, and we thought we were so smart and righteous. For me, the mish experience was one of "the teacher became the student." I learned much from Eastern philosophy and spirituality.

No, but I really wish I had.
