Should we have an "Introductions" forum?

Post by _Dr. Shades »

I have received a request to add an "Introductions" forum. You know, so that members--new or otherwise--can introduce themselves and give a little of their background.

Is such a thing needed or desired? We've gone this long without one, so I admit I'm skeptical, but I'll put it to a vote. Also, I'm trying to keep the number of forums to a minimum, so please only respond "Yes" if you really, truly want such a forum and plan on reading it.

The poll will be up for a week.

We get so few new members here, and most of the new ones are just transplants from MAD, so we already know about them.

I doubt I'd read it.

You could simply change “Off-Topic” to “Off-Topic and Introductions.” Other than that, I think the fewer subforums the better.

I think it would be nice.

I'd like to see some introductions/background stories for people we already think we 'know'. Like scottie and steuss.

Yes. I'd love to be able to read about other posters, where they're coming from, and how they got there.

But then we'd be a bunch of less anonymous cowards.

Since there wasn't a "hell no" option, I simply voted "no".

I think smilies would be needed in such a forum.

Well, the "yeas" have it.

I have decided to compromise and, rather than create an entire new forum expressly for that, I created a permanently "stickied" thread in the Off-Topic Forum expressly dedicated to self-introductions.

Since it hasn't existed before, I invite everyone--both new members and veteran members--to chime in.

Check it out here. Enjoy!
