Here is the latest rendition of the song the band I'm in has been working on for a couple of months now (there’s the little player off to the right that you have to hit the play button on). We just can't seem to get the overall mix to where we like it. Maybe one of these days will finally just abandon it and send it off to be mastered.

For those who have heard it before, this mix is very different than the last version.

As far as the mix, sounds pretty good to me. There is a bit of pumping going on though I think. Sounds like it may be the bass drum pushing the threshold a bit hard...?

There’s a couple of things with vocals that we need to change a bit, and one part with the guitar. As far as the “pumping,” that should probably be resolved with the mastering. The mix has been hard to get just right because we have essentially mixed it to sound at its “best” when listened to on iPod earphones.

Sounds great. I can't wait to hear the final, mastered version. I've finally decided to finish the album I've been working on for the past year. I'm not sure if I want to pay to have it mastered, but I probably should. Anything to make it sound better.

I've finally decided to finish the album I've been working on for the past year. I'm not sure if I want to pay to have it mastered, but I probably should. Anything to make it sound better.

As far as mastering goes, I think it comes down to the original recording, and the overall sound. I've heard plenty of stuff that hasn't been mastered that sounds fantastic.

That's groovy that you're going to finish it up. Definately let me get an auditory gander when you're done.

That whole album is a masterpiece. The first time I listened to it, I wasn't impressed... but then it grew on me and ended up being in my CD player for a solid month.

Gold is the album that sold me on him (although he unfortunately hasn't inspired me to write music...) ;-)
I don't know what happened to him though (or maybe I'm crazy) because I wasn't too impressed with his album Rock n Roll. The song "1974" was about the only thing that caught me, but it was the music, not the lyrics.

My friend is a big fan of Whiskeytown.
