Sure. Keeping in mind, I was there. It does not mean I really understand them, though. Other than it happened.

I got my nose broken in several places. I had difficulty breathing. My grandfather gave me a healing blessing a week after the break. When he said amen, my nose became whole and I could immediately breath. So much for Brigham Young saying that all doctors are good for are for setting bones and delivering babies.

I had a whiplash injury that was painful and debilitating for several months. I was immediately healed when my hometeachers pronounced a blessing upon me.

I was with my friend when together we laid our hands upon another friend after a severe accident. With our eyes closed during the blessing we saw each of the injuries - what would heal and what would not - shattered bones and internal injuries. The healing took place in the ER. Upon opening our eyes, his color had returned we walked out with him an hour later.

Without going into any detail, I gave one administration that revealed a frightening and violent assault had taken place. I was unaware until the blessing.

Whenever I gave fathers blessings, confirmations, etc, I knew when I was channeling (for lack of a better word). I knew it because I would speak much more eloquently than I could when I was just being myself - it wasn't so much mormonspeak either. Words like "might", "hope" and "we ask.." were not a part of such administrations, but more sure words like "will", "immediately" and "I command..".

I've had a couple of instances where I thought I was not "worthy" to administer. If I did not make proper peace between me and who I thought was God, nothing would flow. That being the case, if nothing came, I would end, rather than grope for flattering words. Like Mark Twain (Huck Finn) said, "you can't pray a lie" (or a blessing)

All of the administrations/blessings had about them a profound spirit or feeling of love and peace between what I considered the two worlds - regardless of the outcome. I particularly miss this but I have great difficulty trusting it now.

I have only one specific instance in my life where I felt the surety as the sun was shining that the recipient would be healed and they did not - ever. It was confusing, humiliating, faith destroying and even embarrassing. Just once. But that was pretty much enough for me to put my hands in my pockets from then on.

One more thing, It's been many years since the last time I was given a priesthood blessing by a bishop or stake president where there was any spiritual substance. If you've felt it yourself you know when others are full of it. My kids have patriarchal blessings that are nothing but a joke.

Now, I don't know who this clown Melchizedek is or was. I don't really care. It all messes with my mind.

On a side note, I would very much like to know if there is a board out there where more spiritual concepts are discussed.
Thank you for sharing those experiences Inc. I understand and respect that these are your experiences and yours alone.

However, without medical proof(xrays before and after), I do not believe any healing occurred. I demand physical proof regardless of the religion and/or claim.

I know what you mean. Funny, for all the years I participated in and experienced these phenomena, I kept the events between myself and those involved. As long as it worked, who cared how it all came together? I know plenty of people that don't know how an internal combustion engine works, but they know that when they stick in the key their car runs.

How can I explain this? At the time, it was as natural and as strange as childbirth. True administrators spoke God's will and it happened. Posers used words like "if", "we ask" and "might". I didn't always bless to heal. Sometimes I revealed that pain and suffering gave mortals an opportunity for self reflection, to develop empathy or to learn humility - among other things. I didn't question it. It was what it was.

At the time, my frame of mind was that if God could create the world, move a mountain, resurrect a son, change a heart -Well, pretty much everything else was little stuff, right? Over the years, most leadership got that glassy eyed look when I would speak so matter of factly about these things.

I still feel this way to an extent. But now I just don't know who God is. The trust just isn't there anymore. He really does change, it seems. I thought He gave me clues that some things were true when clearly they are not (Smith - prophet etc) - and it wasn't Him that corrected me. I found out for myself. It's like the scene where Toto pulls back the curtain to reveal an old little man with honorable intentions - fallable nevertheless.

I'd be interested in how other people have experienced this (aside from the cold/flu balony), but I doubt any Mormon will post. They'll either say it's too sacred to share (in other words it doesn't consistantly make sense at all to them) or they really have no real personal experience with it.

Inc,

Do you have medical evidence that there were actual injuries before the purported blessings?

I've had many amazing experiences... and do believe there is more to this universe than our little human minds can comprehend.

What I do know is that these experiences are not limited to any religion, race, creed, sex, priesthood power, or belief system.

"Healings," "visions," inspiration, "feelings," unknowable information etc. etc. etc. seem to be a common phenomenon.

Many of my most powerful "miracles" were during times I did not believe in a God/being, nor ask in prayer, nor have faith in any divine being.

My "conclusion" is that spiritual/amazing experiences happen, but it is not because a few men have a special power but because we are part of an incredible universe that is filled with mystery.

Nope.

Never went back for xrays because there was little need in spending the money/effort since it worked. If it ain't broken..

What can I say? What have I got to gain by even mentioning this stuff?

Anyways, I didn't say I could explain it. I did mention that I was confused about it, and refuse to practice it anymore though.

Life is much easier and simpler to wrap your head around if this phenomena isn't for real. I don't blame you for your mindset. In an odd sort of way, I kind-of envy you for not having seen/experienced/witnessed the things I have.

That's pretty much my conclusion too, TD.

I hope that someday I'll be able to see more clearly before I die. I just need some serious deprogramming (or maybe a low level format). And seriously, this is why I am here posting. Where does one go?

So in your the case of your friend who had these internal injuries and shattered bones, did the doctors have x-rays that confirmed this before the blessing? Or were things moving slow in the emergency room and you priesthood holders decided to do both the X-rays and the surgery with your magic powers?

No x-rays prior.

I really didn't know what to expect. I was 19, pre-mission. He got hit by a motorcycle while walking across the street. I literally saw the injuries during the administration. The injuries that were to remain we both saw too. They were not even apparent until after the xrays because of the swelling/bruising in other areas. It was a typical inner city county hospital Friday night. He still lay on an ambulance gurney because of the overflow. He lay virtually unattended for about 45 minutes. When we opened our eyes the color had returned to his face.

No one should believe this stuff. If you ever witness this for yourself, then we can both just shake our heads anyways. At the time, I concluded simply that God didn't want him back yet because we all have a purpose and his wasn't complete.

He wasn't a saint. In fact, he was excommunicated because he was an ex-con. He was in the process of getting his life back together at the time but he's spent well deserved time in prison 3 times that I know of since. He's done some Mormon unforgiveable things - and yet there he was.

Are saying the blessing only made the color return to his face?

If he had shattered bones and internal injuries that remained, how did he walk OUT with you?

Boaz,

The ER doctors that eventually evaluated him saw only a small fracture in his nose, broken finger and some bruising. He stayed on crutches for a couple weeks for the bruise on his shin.

We saw more during the administration. Now, think about it. How can a person see internal injuries and shattered bones with their eyes closed? They can't. It's not possible (even though I did, so there). So you're safe in your objectivity.

It's just my word now. 23+ years ago.

Now, if you missed my point:

A healing does not prove a church is true, though it might leave some confusing clues. It just means a person got better. I hope we're all so lucky.
