Its all in the game.

This seems to miss the point entirely. I personally don't care whether or not the Church calls apostles on the basis of race. I genuinely think that apostles ought to be chose on the basis of spiritual insight. Sadly, this presently isn't the case. There's nary a fisherman, carpenter, or school teacher to be found amongst the Brethren. Instead, it seems they've all been chosen on the basis of nepotism and secular accomplishment.

You'll be thrilled to learn that President Packer is a teacher (Ed. d from BYU). :)

Lol... No, no---I'm aware of Elder Packer's doctorate. I'm referring more to a salt-of-the earth, "normal" teacher who puts in long hours each day. BKP doesn't fit that bill, I'm afraid.

oh I don't know. BKP started out from pretty humble beginnings and entered pre CES as a seminary teacher.
Pres Monson was into printing I think and worked for the Deseret news.
Holland was a seminary teacher and then institute to start with. Eyring a college professor as was Bednar pre BYUI. Scott was a scientist/Nuclear engineer. Ballard was owner a car dealership. So there is some diversity there.
The press ask questions of representation at every dog and pony show after each new apostle assignment.bcspace wrote:Where is it written that apostles must be representative of some ethnic group?
