I just heard that she was giving the baby up for adoption. I had already been excommunicated and was attending a local community college and institute. One day I saw the institute director approach. He asked her how her baptism went and she smiled and said it went well. She had never been on a mission and I'm almost one hundred percent sure she had not gone through the temple. Mercy cannot rob justice and these things will come back to the church.

My son got his girlfriend pregnant when he was 16. He was not excommunicated. Neither was she. How do you explain this?

first - the church is a lot harsher on females than on males. I have not heard of excommunication of girls in high school that got pregnant but have heard girls that are eighteen and nineteen being excommunicated. It also depends alot on the Bishop for a girl. There are some Bishops that almost never excommunicate and some who seem to have some problems with power. Something that could get someone excommunicated in one ward would not in another ward. It's all random. The only I can say - and this I likely know from what your wrote - is that they did not live in the western orange county california area in the late 70's and early 80's.

Unless Temple Covenants are involved, excommunications rarely occur unless the person is unrepentant.

Besides baptism for the dead once when I was 12 or 13, I have never been through the temple.
Not only that, but I post here and at MAD openly criticizing Mormonism, Christianity, and religion, and there are Church members that are well aware of this. Even a bishop of a ward in my stake. I have yet to be excommunicated (and don't want to be) but that makes me wonder, if I am excommunicated would I even know about it - considering it has been years since I have been to church? Would they mail me some sort of notice, or how would it work? Anyone have experience with this?

There's a term I haven't heard in a long time but yes.

The only things I miss are the weather, my extended family, and the beach. The rest can fall into the ocean.
