From the archives: LDS male missionary forced to have sex

Post by _Boaz & Lidia »

Oh man this is just to funny.

Desnews reporting about a woman who had her dead dog cloned, questions if she is the same lady who apparently raped a Mormon missionary.

Oh this was funny.

Back in 1978.. I was too young and surrounded by too many Mormons to have ever heard this story.

How on earth can a woman RAPE a man?

Read the UK version here.
That McKinney became tabloid fodder in 1978 when she kidnapped 110kg Mormon missionary Kirk Anderson, shackled him to a bed with mink-lined handcuffs and forced him to have sex.

McKinney, who recruited the help of a friend, had Anderson chloroformed, hidden under a blanket and driven 300km to a 17th-century "honeymoon cottage" in Devon, England, where he was chained to a bed.

When McKinney's attempts to convince Anderson to marry her failed, she slipped into a see-through nightie and had sex with him.

Anderson later told a court: "I couldn't move. She grabbed the top of my pyjamas and tore them from my body until I was naked.

"I didn't wish it to happen ... I was extremely depressed and upset after being forced to have sex."
I guess Sister Rosy Palm was getting jealous!

Check out the spectacle on this same topic over at the MA&D house:
http://www.mormonapologetics.org/index. ... opic=37175

Bsix chimes in:
Everyone:

We are going to have to show a great deal of restraint (no pun intended) if the mods are going to allow this thread to exist.

The original rape story in England was HUGELY negative for the Church. It has the potential of dredging up a lot of bad feelings about the Church for a lot of people.

Regards,

Six

Six then readies the troops for battle:
Mormon Chastity Belt...see...the sensationalism around this story has started already.

The 'Chastity Belt' crack is referring to LDS temple garments. Stephen Colbert the comedian describes garments as follows:
Holy Underwear

Temple garments or sacred underwear protect Mormon missionaries and familiesMormons were the first to develop the material now known as Kevlar. US Soldiers often use it (when budget allows) in vests to stop many bullets. It was developed by the Mormons to protect their missionaries who go into dangerous places like Nigeria, Canada, China, and Iraq.

But Mormons don't just wear it as a vest. For them, it's full body armor that's designed especially to protect the nether regions. It's Holy Underwear for Mormons that's given to each of them in a ceremony at a time when each person chooses to.

Not only will it protect them from arrows and bullets when they become missionaries, but it also serves as an ingenious chastity belt. Only a "bishop" at a Mormon stake (which is what they call a local church) can unlock the chastity features of the underwear.

Get ready, there is going to be an international round of crude sexual commentary about Mormonism. But, as with all media frenzies, this will pass.

Regards,
Sex

SilverKnight finishes with a great post:
I am skeptical about the alleged rape as well.

When you step back and evaluate this bizarre tale – strapping 6'4" missionary, petite blond beauty queen, fur-lined handcuffs, see-through nighties - it leaves one a bit incredulous.

However I truly feel for the poor elder who was a "victim" of this malicious minx - can you imagine being chained to the honeymoon suite bed with fuzzy handcuffs whilst a blond California beauty queen clad in a transparent negligee has her way with you?

Oh the indignity of it.

Great post though.
Thoroughly fascinating story.
ROFLMAO!!

I would have been at BYU during that time period, but I really don't remember hearing about it there. Oddly, however, when I was in France on my mission in 79-81, at one point the newspapers went crazy with the story. Maybe it was during the trial? I don't remember the details about why it was suddenly in the press during that later period, but it was. Maybe it was when she was caught.

I know this story always provokes hilarity and skepticism, but I think the woman was a nutter stalker. Yes, they had had a relationship, but he ended it. She couldn't let go and stalked him. Stalkers are creepy, no matter what their gender. I was stalked for a while by an exboyfriend in my youth, and it is scary and icky.

She clearly was always unbalanced:

According to a September 1977 combined Associated Press and UPI story, Joyce McKinney arrived in Provo in 1973 with an eye for the Osmond brothers. She became "emotionally distressed and received counseling" after she was unable to get to know and date them, the story said.
(from the Des article)

from the other article:

She was not prepared to be spurned so easily. Private detectives were hired to trace Anderson from the U.S. to Ewell in Surrey, where he was living as a door-to-door Mormon missionary.

In the summer of 1977, McKinney flew to England with an architect friend called Keith May.

Armed with an imitation revolver, May confronted 21-year-old Anderson on the steps of Ewell's Church of the Latter Day Saints, and frog-marched him to a car in which McKinney was waiting.

Chloroformed and hidden under a blanket, the bespectacled Mormon was driven some 200 miles to Okehampton, where his kidnappers had hired a 17th-century 'honeymoon' cottage for £50 a week.

McKinney later said that she had packed the fridge with Anderson's favourite food and studied The Joy Of Sex in preparation for what was to come.

She resurfaced once more in 1984, when she was arrested near Salt Lake City Airport, where Kirk Anderson - the Mormon she had kidnapped - was working.

In her car, police found a length of rope and a pair of handcuffs. The implication was clear that she was about to make a second kidnap attempt, but she failed to show up in court and the case was dropped.

I feel really sorry for this guy. He was sexually violated by a nutter stalker who apparently continued to stalk him later in life, and no one takes his story seriously because he's a man. The idea of having sex with a creep who's been obsessively stalking you is nauseating. You get to the point where even the sound of their voice gives you the shudders.
We hate to seem like we don’t trust every nut with a story, but there’s evidence we can point to, and dance while shouting taunting phrases.

Uh, that's weird! I've never heard of this story. I can't imagine having sex with someone that didn't want to have sex. Where's the fun in that?

Beastie, I dealt with some stalkers before. It scared the hell out of me. I actually ended up moving after coming outside one day and a man was sitting outside my apartment waiting for me. He must have followed me home.

Boaz, How can a woman rape a man? Well, all she has to do is fiddle with his genitalia, he will most likely become erect and she can do her thing. Or just touching him in a sexual manner without his consent is sexual assault.

I was in England as a Missionary in the late 90's and we still heard people comment on this story and ask us about it.

I'm not sure why Porter thinks rape is funny but then he's always been a bit off.

When I arrived at the mission home in Epsom, Surrey, circa 1978, I met Elder Andersen. He was the Mission President's secretary at the time. The events mentioned above had happened shortly before I arrived.

He looked terrible. He was thin, his pants falling off him. Really, he looked bad. But, he was the nicest guy. And I really enjoyed talking with him.

I hope he is doing well now.

I'd say it comes from a possessive personality and jealousy coupled with lack of contentment in life. When people lack real contentment they build fantasies in their mind of what they think they should have [or they deserve...damnit!], particularly if around a given personality. Go long enough and the ideal dreams become poisonous and they seep into reality. Why not? The dream is better than reality so why not indulge with yourself.

Personally I understand the place you have to be to reach that point, although never becoming a stalker [not to mention I'm too lazy to be out stalking...].

I bet. Scared, violated. Brr...sometimes I'm glad I'm not that attractive/exciting/interesting.

Well, yanno, that's the problem with dreams. They're not real!

Of course with the internet this is probably becoming more common (and beastie and I have talked about this as well as you and I have) you can construct all sorts of fantasies that don't deal with reality in anyway whatsoever. It's very alluring, yet, can really lead you astray. People can present just one aspect of themselves on here or you can think you know someone and you really don't.

I tell Pirate (and others) all the time they need to be careful about giving out information because some people may use that to hurt them. I know that the lines are becoming blurred with the internet and now things that used to stay strictly in this realm can seep out into the "real world". I have now backed away from thinking of people as real people on here and more of how they are attempting to sell themselves -- you never know!

Personally I understand the place you have to be to reach that point, although never becoming a stalker [not to mention I'm too lazy to be out stalking...].

It's hard not to laugh at this story, but one really shouldn't.

Rape isn't funny no matter what genders are involved. It's a rare, rare thing for a woman to rape a man, but it can happen. It's pretty well established that this woman was a nutty stalker who had her advances rejected by this man numerous times, so I'm inclined to believe the man's story. What guy would go public claiming to be raped if the truth was that he merely had consensual sex with a beautiful woman?

It sure does sound like the woman from the dog cloning story and the nutter rapist woman are one and the same. The amount of eyeshadow she has on in her current photo makes me gag.

Yeah it's true, it's easy to laugh, but we really shouldn't. Fact is, she's a rapist. She used force, or had her accomplice use force, to bind a man against his will and then manipulated his genitalia in various ways, against his will. That's rape, pure and simple. It's just so freaking unusual and odd for it to be a guy getting raped that we can't help but make jokes or laugh about it.

Anyhow, this woman sure is a nutjob. What makes me laugh is that the Korean company apparently slashed their fee to less than half what it should have been in exchange for this woman's publicity. I bet they wished they had the money now that it comes out that their publicity person is a total nutter. It makes it sound like she got her dog cloned because she was crazy or something.

Some Korean scientist is reading the web right now and saying "Sh*t!" in Korean.
Mormonism ceased being a compelling topic for me when I finally came to terms with its transformation from a personality cult into a combination of a real estate company, a SuperPac, and Westboro Baptist Church. - Kishkumen
