Right. The recently discovered “constitutional right” to get your peepee poopy, and to force everyone else to congratulate you for it.

No, the basic civil right to marry, recognized as a constitutional right in Loving v. Virginia. Besides, it doesn't matter if your married or single, or gay or straight, you have the right "to get your peepee poopy" without government interference.

Now I remember why I’ve been avoiding this place …

Your depth will be missed.

Damning. Positively damning.

Ed's criticism was overblown, but essentially correct on the whole. I guess the real question is not whether he is right, but whether one agrees with his assessment. May I be so bold as to guess that Bob does not agree with him?

I am not going to do the damning, I can assure you.

Who is Ed Firmage and why do we care?

He is the grandson of late Apostle and member of the First Presidency, Hugh B. Brown. (A known "liberal")

Here is a profile of Ed Firmage

Selected Books:

Religion and Law: Biblical-Judaic and Islamic Perspectives (One co-author being John Welch, the founder of FARMS)

An Abundant Life: The Memoirs of Hugh B. Brown (I highly recommend this one for you, Jason)

The International Legal System

Zion in the Courts (The first legal history of the Church)

To Chain the Dog of War: The War Power of Congress in History and Law

Regarding Hugh B. Brown:

Brown was a talented speaker, and was well known for conveying religious principles and exhortations through accounts of events in his life. His grandson, Edwin B. Firmage noted:

Possessed at once with a sense of humor that refused him permission to take himself too seriously, and a profound spirituality based on true humility before God, he moved thousands with a style of classic oratory that will be sorely missed.

His Sunstone article, Historical Criticism and the Book of Mormon: A Personal Encounter (PDF) (He questions Book of Mormon historicity)

Edit: The Sunstone article was actually written by Firmage's son, as corrected by Tom. It's still worth reading.

That's why I like this board. It would be incomplete without opinions like BC's. Eric Hoffer would probably have paid a fortune to study you, BC.

So says Ray after searching for any examples to counter my claim.....

I doubt it. He was more interested in "madhouses" such as Hitler and Stalin and generally critical of the "New Left".

Doubtless Hoffer would have found bcspace even more tedious than most of us do.

Actually, the paper was written by Firmage's son.
“A scholar said he could not read the Book of Mormon, so we shouldn’t be shocked that scholars say the papyri don’t translate and/or relate to the Book of Abraham. Doesn’t change anything. It’s ancient and historical.” ~ Hanna Seariac
