by the way, I have a policy to not use pm's (as evidenced by the recent drama with Moniker), so that's why I'm posting in the open.
It's not that interesting, AS8. I just missed it. Thanks for pointing it out.
Oh? What's on it? And what's the timeframe? This would be helpful in determining whether or not the Mormon church via BYU is employing Mr. Peterson as an apologist in addition as a professor of blah-blah-blah. I would be more than happy to offer my apologies if apologia is missing from it.

I recall that Dr. Peterson sent me an abbreviated form of his CV that he was preparing for other purposes, because I was discussing his academic credentials with guy sajer. The document listed his non-apologetic activities, which included contributions to various proceedings from conferences, entries in reference works, etc. The CV demonstrated quite clearly that Daniel is up to much more than apologetics, and suggested that at an institution like BYU his contributions could stand on their own without considering his apologetic work. There are a plenty of professors at BYU with much thinner CVs than the abbreviated version he presented to me, especially in terms of academic publications. With the recent publication of his book, I would say that his written contributions are certainly respectable. The METI project is far more significant, and rightly puts Dr. Peterson on the academic map.

Ah. Ok. Well, that doesn't really clear anything up. I agree with your assessment, but it's not really pertinent to the question at hand.

This came in response to me considering as shallow Runtus' judgement comparing the Church to Amway. I was assessing his argument, and somehow that was consitrued as "personal attack". This puzzled me, but what the heck....your board, your rules.
Yet, here we have an entire thread devoted to personally attacking Dr. Peterson, and it has been allowed to go on for some time now.
Furthermore, in the "Good Lord" thread today I was called "disgusting, condescending and bigoted" for holding up a sign during the protest at temple square several weeks ago, expressing gratitude to the Church for protecting families, societies, and children, and smiling and waving hello to people as they hurled insults at me and my faith.
Please don't get me wrong. I'm not complaining. It's just that I wish to better understand how the no tollerance of personal attacks is supposed to work here. Could someone help me out?
Thanks, -Wade Englund-
[Since you pointed this out, I think an explanation might be in order.
We discussed this as moderators and decided that since DCP is a paid apologist, that he is a subject of Mormonism, just as the Prophet or the apostles might be. He is fair game for criticisms. NOT for personal attacks. There is most certainly a fine line between the two, and for the most part it has not crossed it, with the exception of what Chris has already moderated.
I spoke privately with Dr Peterson about this and he agreed with our decision.
Again, you may criticise Dr Peterson as an apologist. Anything beyond that is off limits and will be censored just like everyone else.]

OK. All I intended to do was correct you on the claim that DCP has no CV.

I wonder why it was an abbreviated CV... And what's the problem with posting a CV in order to quash Scratch's assertion that Mr. Peterson isn't a paid apologist? This would pretty much do it.

I am guessing it was abbreviated because this version was at hand and served the purpose for the discussion with guy at that time. I was under the impression that Scratch was asserting that Dr. Peterson is a paid apologist. I agree that he is, but I would stop short of taking that as far as Scratch does. I see nothing wrong with a BYU professor having apologetics as one facet of his career. At this point, I don't really care one way or the other. If BYU can facilitate the NMI, why not the apologists who staff it? It makes sense to me, but then I do not know the inner workings and sensitivities of the BYU world quite the way Daniel does.
