Wait a minute!!!! Is Amasblaah I can't spell that name Mon? When I clicked on this and read the first post I thought it was posted by Mon. I was thinking about her avatar is much different to how she normally has it but the ama person I thought was foreign and a bit of an oddball like me. When I was talking about mon changing her name, I meant from the name I first saw ages ago to mon. I swear I read moniker. I am confused. Who is this person?

Moni,

I'm sorta getting the jist of what your saying, but could you maybe rephrase it?

The White stripes video and the article on Japanese culture do help with the point your trying to make. But if you could be more to the point I think it would help with the discussion.

How much time did you spend in Japan? And also if these were formative years for you do you think that they affected how you interact with others here in the states, particularly with poor Mormons who have strict chastity rules in their society?

This is something that anyone inclined to view may wish to consider:
http://www.beyondintractability.org/ess ... anization/

I just posted wiki earlier because it was simplified, yet, the psychology of dehumanization is quite fascinating, to me, and perhaps others may wish to read more on it.

Pirate, I had a trauma and I did not split. I think I'm crazy when I have panic attacks that coincide with certain dates on this board, yet, I'm merely in the throes of panic. My trauma began in mid September of 2007 and I finally cracked in November of 2007 after I was told on the board (THIS HAPPENED ON THE BOARD) that I was used and tossed aside like a piece of used garbage and should expect to be treated poorly because of who and what I am. This went on for 3 pages. Guess who popped into that thread and agreed (which part did he agree with I'm not certain of) with what was being said? Runtu. Guess what the author of the licked cupcake essay did after she read that thread? PM me? Offer me support? No. She went into the MDB jukebox and posted this song:

I held my head high. I crumpled eventually to my dismay. Of course I, eventually, struggled back to an upright posture.

gaz, Japan no doubt shaped some aspects of me. My previous reply went into being a minority in Japan. I've been a minority in a few societies and this has given me quite a bit of insight into minority and majority mindset. I don't see racist people as evil because I understand their upbringing and their culture have created them. I view "reverse racism" as a group of people that are oppressed crying out for liberation and doing it in self defeating ways, at times. I went a bit in depth about what I've done on this board in my prior post before it was deleted.

Liz and harmony thnks for the 3 week ban! Did you merely make my point, for me, by banning me? I think you did! Thnks!

I'll play with my ball of yarn in the corner while you two (and anyone else so inclined) can scroll down to number 17, click on agree stronly" and then sing along.

1,2,3 go!

The suspension would have lasted a week had you not violated it. Your IP was blocked after you created a sock puppet and violated the suspension.

I don't know who your intended audience is Moniker, it might be a select group, I don't know. If it's the MB generally, I doubt the general reader understands what points you are intending to make. From my perspective, little of what you say makes much sense.

The thing about MB's is that it's not a big deal not understanding a person's post. People perceive and treat Net communication on MB's differently
than real life. In a real life conversation, not only does one see or hear the tone and facial expressions by which one can judge how serious or not the conversation is, but as well on a one to one basis one can not as easily ignore what someone says.

You linked to a web site on dehumanization. I think it is of interest that people often act differently on MB's than in real life. There is not that same sense of care as in real life interactions. I think what it boils down to is that people don't have much of a vested interest. In a sense people on MB's are dehumanized. The logistics of it are that it is very difficult to take an emotional interest in each and every person who writes.

in my opinion message boards serve as a means of working out ideas with interested people and shouldn't be counted to provide too much more. I don't think one can ever truly relate fully to another person by the medium of the written word solely. I think one needs at a minimum to talk in person and ideally to meet in person. The relationships via the Internet are easily discarded with little vested interest involved.
