INL Oversight Program: Guide to Radiation Doses and Limits

Notice the last four items in the list. You get far less radiation dosage living near a nuclear power plant than a coal fired plant. Notice also that you can get more simply by wearing a wrist watch than by living near a nuclear power plant.

Ok, so you've demonstrated that living near a nuclear power plant will not expose you to much radiation. However, your earlier claim was that national regulations require the radiation of a nuclear power plant to be less than the "background radiation" (which is an ambiguous term, which could be taken to mean "cosmic background radiation" or "natural environmental radiation". This claim remains undocumented.

You also claimed that these regulations impose a significant expense on the construction/operation of nuclear power plants. This claim remains undocumented.

Your implied argument was that by easing the regulations on the radiation emitted by nuclear power plants, the US would be able to save a great deal of money. So far, this argument is entirely unsubstantiated.

Afterthought: You also tried to somehow tie nuclear power plant regulations with Kyoto. You brought up said regulations in order to support your claim that Kyoto was already costing "billions". This is a fabulous example of a non sequitur.

Can we get the next ice age started then? University students need something to protest about.
