It need only be as big as a basketball, assuming you rotate it slowly enough.

Do you know where one might be able to see the images large enough to read the text in them?

Hi krose,

I'm not having any problems seeing the image or reading the text on my computer. Maybe if you right-click on the image and then select "View Image", that might help. It will send you to the image's source.

Size isn't what determines the length of a day on any given planet. It's completely the rate of rotation that matters.

One day on Jupiter takes 9 hours and 55 minutes. Its day is shorter, yet its diameter is roughly 11 times as big as Earth's. Jupiter simply rotates faster.

God seems so insignificant now.

Bummer.

I didn't post this to demonstrate any real point other than that the truly insignificant things are petty disputes like the angry back-and-forths of the board of late.

I added my own interpretation later (that a small glimpse into the scale of the universe makes the idea of an anthropomorphic god seem silly), but if you interpret it to mean that god is great, then that's cool with me.

Apparently my education was lacking, because this is something I never learned. I always assumed there was a relationship between the rate of rotation of an object and its mass. It's been an interesting couple of hours reading about such things. Very enlightening.

I got the impression from reading the PoGP in my youth that Joseph Smith used the 1000-year day as a way to illustrate the great size of Kolob. However, it seems that in our solar system the largest planets spin faster.

Venus is the most fascinating to me, because its day is longer than its year (1 Venus day = 243 Earth days).
