I know everyone is stressed about the COVID pandemic, the national debt, unemployment, China's dominance, Russian hackers, the storming of the Capitol, global warming and the environment.

Just remember, there is no need to worry at all because Jesus will come and save us. Now go out and have a great day!

This confirms my suspicion that, for many members of the church, their REAL first religion is U.S.-focused "conservatism;" the actual teachings of the church are clearly secondary in their lives.
It is not conservativism. It is national socialism.
Agreed. Hence my use of scare quotes. The right-wing politics they've been pushing have nothing to do with conservatism, but they seem to have hijacked the word.

Just a pet peeve — the article itself is pretty irresponsible. She reports raw numbers without including a sampling error. Of the Mormons surveyed, 25% refused to answer the question. No information about the demographics of those who refused. If the split in the refusers is not similar to those who answered, her conclusions about trends could be off. Blech!

What you are seeing is that 25% of Mormons who were asked this question were afraid to publicly admit voting for Trump.

Maybe. Demographic data might help.

So when the Brethren meet, does President Nelson or Trump get to hold the title Il Duce?

Gross. Pretty damning indictment of the LDS Church.
For once I agree with Kish.
It's hard to imagine a more damning indicator of LDS religious delusion and the resulting belief system.

Because he doesn’t know who Trump is.

Well I didn't.

Trump repeatedly mocked the Saints, according to reports.

And, the Deseret News repeatedly came out against him; most recently a couple of months ago publishing an opinion by the Church's constitutional lawyer who teaches at BYU law.

I find the vocal Facebook supporters of Trump these days, who are members of my stake, are decent people who have absurd and moronic and discriminatory political philosopies, but they have a lot of company. Trump is also not a true conservative. I was shocked to learn that the GOP did not publish a platform this year, and instead said it adopted Trump's positions.
Thanks for sharing that, BY. Whenever I see a conservative not buying into Trump, my respect for that person is really boosted. It is easy for a lefty not to follow Trump. For a conservative to resist really says something good about that conservative, in my opinion.
