Said the man who doesn't really want to talk about, it, but wants to moralize about how everyone who disagrees with him is evil.

The problem is you have come in with the premise that the death penalty is murder and barbaric. As with your other political positions, you won't be swayed from this position. Therefore, it makes no sense to even bother debating the merits or faults of it. Since debate is useless, I am closing this thread.

I see this as being symbolic and systemic regarding conservative LDS thought on many levels.

While conservatism has triumphed in the war of ideas, it is always worth it to respond to left wing clap trap if there is a public audience.

Regarding thread closure, the mods think they are emulating Church values by closing political threads erroneously interpreting the Church's neutral political stance when the reality is that the Church has asked it's members to participate in politics and politics is one of the outward signs of one's inward religion/philosophy.

In addition, the Church's doctrine is conservative which the left can rail against but ultimately do nothing about. it's unfortunate that left wingers in the Church were either lured to the CHurch by someone's erroneous interpretation of the gospel or that they remain and deny actual doctrine while promoting their own interpretations.

Recent examples of the failure of the left on MADB are the threads on capital punishment and the LoC, both of which the Church takes a conservative stance, the death penalty being doctrine despite the Church not taking a public stand and the LoC outlawing socialist and communal principles in it's practice while promoting private property as a fundamental principle and a persons agency to what they will with their stewardship (considered to be private property).
