Who knows? He's an international man of mystery.

Are you suggesting that gramps was having us on? I never would have guessed.

What would be even more funny is Will actually having claimed that.

Of course, Harmony is right. The ages are off. But, I swear, if someone were not too lazy, one could find one of his posts where he talks about knowing Oaks. I just don't remember it clearly. But certainly it was around the time he was boasting of access to the materials at the world conquest building (COB).

Simon and/or Semelbow seem to have a lot of time on their hands. Maybe they can do a search for us. ;)

Nomad has suggested that Will has crazy mind powers. That could answer this satisfaction for attention we have been forced into supplying. Hope he does not compel us to perform the dread amphibiological whimsy dance while wearing oven mitts.

Here is the first one I found where Will mentions tracting together with Dallin Oaks in Italy:

I'm certain the receptiveness to Mormonism of the Italians was comparable to what you encountered in France. And yet I loved every single minute of it, and would gladly do it all again, even if the parameters of the experience remained entirely unchanged. I remember the day Dallin Oaks and I were tracting out a neighborhood of especially disinterested (in Mormonism) Italians. I turned to him and guaranteed I would get us in the next door. He scoffed, but I did it, and we ended up having a great experience that afternoon--mostly watching John McEnroe and Bjorn Borg in the 1980 Wimbledon final (which Borg won in the end). Other than identifying ourselves as Mormon missionaries, I don't think we talked about Mormonism at all with the family that, after a complicated negotiation, let us into their nice little villa on that hot summer day. But we sure made a good impression on our hosts, who ultimately fed us a nice dinner and invited us back to visit anytime. We left there that day with a spring in our step and a smile on our faces.

I imagine it is Dallin D. Oaks that Will is talking about, a linguistics professor now at the BYU, and, of course, Dallin H. Oaks' son.

It appears they served together in the Italy Cantania mission, '79-'81.

Bingo. Thanks, gramps. You have made a very interesting connection here.

I really didn't. But if I did, it would only be in comparison to what passes for normal here.

Let me make sure I understand what’s being said here. Will was a companion to a missionary whose father became a general authority, and that’s why he was granted access to the papyri and KEP?

LOL. No, you don't understand what is being said here. Obviously.

I guess not. So help me out. What is being said here?

I'm afraid not, Nomad. Thanks for taking interest, however.
