Simon, it is simply a fact that new words and usages can spring up in a community practically overnight.
Take a look at "truthiness." In our little community, "Mopologist" clearly is a part of the lingo. There's no use in continuing to indulge in a sour grapes attitude about the whole thing.

I never misspelled Mormon. An 'm' is an 'M' is an 'm'.
A proper noun should be capitalized. Also, you used to place a strange period in the middle of the word. Just one more minor correction and you'll have it! Capitalize that M!
We've been over this, Simon. You know why I write it the way I do.

by the way, do you know what "mopologetics" means? If so, the word is functional. All words are made up; when they start to convey meaning to others, they are functional made up words.
No. Words evolve over time -- long periods of time.
How does your comment contradict mine?
What are you saying, that a word isn't a word if it isn't old? WTF, man?
God belief is for people who don't want to live life on the universe's terms.
Some Schmo wrote:That was as nice as I could put it. When it comes to Mormon apologetics, it's impossible for me to be honest and nice at the same time.
Okay. So niceness will not be the of the game with you. But you have been nice, at times. I'm so confused, or you are just being dramatic for dramatic's sake. I don't get it, though. Oh well.
I've never been one to look at BS mental contortionism favorably.
So no charity for the mistaken people who justify their beliefs, in your mind through contoriton, because they love their beliefs huh?
This is eerily far too black and white, polarizing, and hostile, but it won't be seen that way by the posters here, I'm sure. Oh well.

I guess it's about getting Peterson, Midgley, et al. to ride on the coattails of these other guys?
It's about not allowing you to define your enemies.
And yes, Kishkumen, little words and phrases do spring up, and that's fine as long as they aren't epithets.

Thanks to the Doctor for bringing his expertise on the subject of Mopologetics to bear on this discussion. I think the problem is that Dr. Peterson rejects the word, and so his would-be-lackey Simon, in a show of loyalty, feels he must attack the word on behalf of his chosen Master.

I have mentioned some of these apologists names to friends in my ward and there is only one name that anyone recognizes: Mike Ash. Either I have a very uninformed group of ward friends, they subscribe to SLTRIB over DN or they have accepted the counsel I have heard given in Priesthood to avoid apologetic writings and simply follow the Prophet.
Is anyone else as mystified as I am by the inclusion of Matt Roper on this list? The somewhat porcine Roper's two greatest claims to fame are: (1) getting blamed by DCP for the embarrassing "horse bone" tidbit on the MI's website, and (2) his "sidekick" role in Midgley's verbal assault on Sandra Tanner. It's strange that Nomad would include Roper over, say, Greg Smith, or Stephen Ricks, or Jack Welch, or any of the key FAIR personnel. Why, you have to ask, would Roper stand out in Nomad's mind as a key Mopologist?

you must live in a very lowbrow community. I won't say anything more.

Well, it is very revealing of Nomad's mentality and understanding of apologetics. Attacking little old ladies really puts Roper on the map for Nomad.
